    Default Crafting shard descriptions need prefix/suffix indicators

    Every crafting shard needs to have an indicator whether it's a prefix effect or a suffix effect. While I know many prefixes and suffixes, there are others that I will have to go Google to get an answer for because it's not obvious, like Vampirism and Aligned. Each player will have their own list of effects they aren't familiar with, based on their experience. It would provide alot of clarity if each shard simply stated "Prefix Effect" or "Suffix Effect", or some other obvious designator.

    Also, when crafting shards, it would be nice to be able to filter based on prefix and suffix, in addition to the existing filters (level, arcane, divine, elemental, xp, etc).

    This is already implemented in game.

    i think it only shows this on the item crafting device. it should be shown on the shard crafting device too

    You have to hover over the shard, not go by the title in the shard crafting device. Pull up the description of the shard and it gives you the true name.

    (This is just the temporary work around. I agree that more information at a glance is better.)

    Hovering over a shard does not tell you if it's a prefix or suffix.

    And this information is disseminated how to players? That's not obvious at all. I'm simply asking for clarity. Crafting should not be a guessing game requiring I alt-tab out to a crafting planner, like it is with Green Steel crafting.

    Don't know about him, but I do it so that I don't activate GS weapon clickies by accident if I try to equip the weapon twice.

    The game isn't great about recognizing attempts to switch weapons, so I generally hit the key twice out of habit. Sometimes, it's needed, sometimes not, but if it's not needed, I don't want a lightning bolt or whatever going off and slowing me down.

    Dunno about him, but I have the 'next weapon set' key mapped, so I can just cycle thru my weapon sets... save my action bar for more important things.


    ANYWAYS..... I agree that the shards need a BETTER description. Instead of the generic "Crafting shard" text, each shard should list if it's a prefix or suffix, what type of device it will go in, and any other special modifiers (IE piercing only) that apply.

    How are greensteel recipes disseminated to players in game? They aren't? At all?

    So then, this is a huge and vast improvement.

    Personally, I think one should have to figure it out from scratch, so people stop complaining about that.


    However, I see nothing wrong with simply changing our current shards to read holy shard (prefix).

    What in-game resource tells you about using khyber fragments to bind items?

    What in-game resource describes the collectible recipes to add the Adamantine Ritual, or the Force Burst Ritual (or any of the others)?

    Loading Screen Tip #205: Bound items never take permanent damage when repairing. You can bind an item you own using Khyber Dragonshard Fragments at the Stone of Change at the base of the Twelve's tower or next to the bank in the Marketplace.

    Loading Screen Tip #201: Dragonshard Fragments can be combined at a Stone of Change if you place a large enough number of them into the device.

    More examples of things done poorly in DDO. No reason to use this as a basis for a new system.

    That's rather vague, and also not terribly useful, since as indicated there are a couple hundred hints, the odds of seeing any particular one is low.

    And hell, my load screens come and go so fast that there isn't even time to read them unless it's only a handful of words.
