I also followed these directions:
If you continue to receive the error after all the above, make sure that the game launcher is fully closed out (you might want to reboot the pc again as a "just in case") and then perform these steps below:
Upon opening that folder, find either the "News.html" file or the "Alerts.html" file detailed in the error (They might just show up as "News" or "Alerts") and right-click whichever one was indicated in the error and delete the file. Relaunch the game to test.
- Click on the Windows "Start" button and click "Run" or into "Start Search".
- Type (or copy/paste) the following command, depending on which game is giving the error exactly as detailed below hitting enter when done:
- %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Turbine\The Lord of the Rings Online\Launcher
- Or:
- %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher
and found only text files, nothing that i can right-click to delete.
