Just saw an LFM up for Shroud. Leader was a lvl15 sorc. So, just out of curiosity I ram a MyDDO to see how uber the guy was.
    See for yourself

    Would you run with him?

Also, I tried to give polite feedback on HP's and heavy fort.

    Wanna Shroud with him?

Sure, BUT he can't get aggro or else he'll go down faster than a fat man that sat down too fast.

I give him props for running an at-level Shroud on a gimp, at least.

While MyDDO is notoriously inaccurate, some things it gets right, like ability scores.

All the ???'s make it hard to determine what kind of gear he was actually wearing, but the Trinket looks like either a Dusk Heart or Crimson Gemstone. I am going to guess it's not the Gemstone, because that really would be over the top gimp.

The bit that confuses me is that he said he "sacrificed most everything" for his DPS. What sacrifices to stats are necessary to get DPS on a Sorc? With CON that low he HAD to have put build points into stats other than CHA.

    Ouch.. just ouch.

So I guess that McPhail isn't "max DPS" because I built him to survive a single meteor swarm.

    Guess I'll go reroll...

That looks like mmm, base starting stats of:
    STR 8 or 9
    DEX 12 or 13
    CON 12
    INT 10 or 11
    WIS 10 or 11
    CHA 18

based off what MyDDO shows for the non-equip non-enhancement mods.

28 point build in the character planner gives:
    STR 8
    DEX 12
    CON 12
    INT 10
    WIS 10
    CHA 18

It's the lack of a worn CON item and fort item that really makes his HP painfully low. The attitude he gives you is what makes me not want to party with him over anything else.

So, at first, I openned a shy smile.

Then after thinking some time, I thought: how many times have I run out of components in the middle of a quest? Then I remembered 2 times: on one, I had run out of components for haste/displacement while doing an eDA on my caster. Luckily I think that we had a bard that started doing that job that I had taken before we started.

Then I remembered one time when I was scroll farming on eATDQ1. I used to gather an army on the scorp pit before launching an Ice Storm with Eardweller to kill about 50 or so mobs. It required about 10 or 15 mins to gather them, then 2 or 3 mins to kill then all in 1 shot, and it was risky and many a time I got killed by missing the jump to a plataform. So once, I gathered them all and only when I was about to start nuking I realized that I was, again, without components to cast Ice Storm. I got so angry at me that I did the unthinkable: I bought Hearts of Hens and finished that, at that time, to get 0 (zero, nich, nil) scrolls.

So I looked again at that pic, then I realized that he had might, just might, be passing through the same situation that I did, humiliating himself so he could have had his arse, and time, saved. And have his situation laughed upon on these forums. Which made me sad.

Ah.. back to the original screenie. There's more now, you should check them out. Good times.

Anyway, it's Prey - if I ran out of Spell Components, I would teleport to the Portable Hole, restock, wait for my clickies to recharge, and go back in.

It was Prey, solo - it's not like he had a party, or someone that was going to be put out by this. Nor is it particularly a difficult quest, even on "Hard" difficulty.

So, yes, he opened himself up to a little bit of fun on the forums, where he could have quietly cursed himself for forgetting, and remedied the error with no one being the wiser.

That said, I ran out of Licorice on my Bard in Shroud last night, as I was hopping into.. Part 1. >.< Bought 50 off the store, and then when we got to Part 3, had the nice Mr. Skeleton restock ALL my spell components, since I was obviously being a ****** yesterday.

    ^ This

It also tells me that how many slots I am wasting by having 1000 comps that have never decremented ...

My favorite: on Khyber, there's a player with a name that's contrary to their alignment. Their first name has twice as many x's in it than any other letter and still managed to use the maximum character length for a first name. I saw them once in the Harbor and was just like...face it, buddy. It's just not working for you.

I feel the same way if it starts AND ends in X, or has the words ninja or jedi, or references to dragonballZ.

Sure ive seen a few exceptions, but most kids that use those naming conventions need their ritalin dosages upped and should be outside burning off excessive energy.

I'll look him up again later cuz I remember his name, but if memory surves he had a con item on, was either +2 or +4, i'll check it out again at work in morning.

I've always liked the LFMs that say "we wiped, come save us". Also known as, come finish for us and get no exp/loot.

Mmm, well at least you'd probably get the end chest.. probably.

I like the truly clueless LFMs - like Shroud LFMs that are up and say something like, "One spot, just finished Part 2" and stuff like that.

Sure, I suppose if you were *really* dying for that 20th completion - but I tend to just assume it's someone new.

Adding on to this, I've seen a few LFM's show up wanting help for the Hezrou in Epic Into the Deep. This is after the north temple is done and the quest is complete. Any late joiners get screwed by not being able to get anything out of the epic chest.

Mmm.. yes, this is one of those special occasions where quest completion would hose you out of an Epic Chest. I suppose Wizzy King is another one of those examples, although you can at least hope if they were inviting you in, it meant they hadn't picked up the Phylactery.
