In more related note, wish I could help, but I've just build up another GS item and so I'm a little short on components, but the reason why I'm short is I found the last petal I needed in a rare chest in the Vale. Guildies have been noticing an increase in those drops in the Vale rare chests since U9. Don't know if funks or branches drop like that (hasn't been confirmed to me at least) but it could spare a trip into the walk-ups.

Unless they've changed something, only the lily petals and the locust husks drop in the vale.

Yeah that's what the wiki says, and now I'm doubting myself, but I recall getting a fungus out of one of the rare chests... don't think I forgot doing another Running with the devils ... but in doing quests and rares for crafting trash I might have.

At any rate at least the petals and husks seem to be dropping quite a bit in the rare chests.

Hopefully this won't derail your thread too much and you'll get the funk you need for your GS item.
