    Default 18 Ranger and???

Ok so I did plan to go pure ranger but the fact that the capstone on ranger is pretty much only archer focused I feel a little ****ed (not actually but you know what I mean) Anyway I decided that after lvl 12 I might take another class, then after 19 (12 for tempest 2 and same at 19) So what classes should I take at 13 and 20. I have heard monk and rogue and I can see the benefits of monk for sure also sneak attack dmg is fine and dandy but I want to know what my options are. Like what about fighter/monk or something. Just let me know guys, some of you I assume will have tested this out, been through the pitfalls and gimps so I want to cover my bases.

Rogue at level 1 can give you full traps and UMD. Very useful.

Monk gives you Wis bonus to AC and an extra feat. Can totally make the difference between viable AC and AC-is-useless.

Fighter gives you Haste Boost and an extra feat. 2x fighter gives you +1 Strength.

Barbarian gives you passive movement speed +10% and rage.

Cleric or Wizard post-U9 gives you the ability to regenerate 2-5HP per second by (ab)using Echoes of Power in combination with Ranger devotion... heal scrolls are better though by late game.

    Too many choices....

If you decide that you want to go rogue for one of the levels, you will also need to think about LRing because you want to take Rogue as your first level for the bonus skill points. The biggest reason to go rogue would be for max UMD ranks.

Monk is a good option if you want a little more AC and a few more feats. Same with Fighter althought going Fighter will keep your BAB at 20 whereas taking Monk and/or Rogue your BAB will be reduced.

I'm running a 18/1/1 with rogue and fighter splashed and loving the versatility of the build. Though, as pointed out above, you really need to take rogue at L1 for it to be of any use. If you don't plan on LR'ing for that purpose, then I guess monk/fighter would be ideal as per the Exploiter build.

I was thinking about monk/fighter both I think give extra feats too. Also what about bard? wouldn't that give umd plus boost in sp. Nobody seems to multiclass with a bard splash and perhaps for good reason.

Personally I went 18/2 Ranger/Fighter for the feats, 20 BAB, Haste Boost and +1 str but Monk and Rogue are both strong contenders.

From personal experience, 18/1/1 ranger/fighter/monk is a really solid choice. Compared with a pure 20 ranger, it gains two bonus feats, bonus AC, extra hitpoints and Haste Boost I at the cost of 1 BAB and an archery capstone. It has +1 BAB, +14HP and one extra feat over the "exploiter" (monk/rogue splash) - though it loses out on 1d6+3 SA damage, trap skills and full ranks in UMD. I don't actually miss sky-high UMD that much, to be honest; she has 594SP, Concordant Opposition, high Concentration, the whole Ranger Devotion enhancement line and Superior Ardor IV, so her self-healing is very good without being able to use heal scrolls effectively.

It's up to you, obviously, but I don't think you would be disappointed in the fighter/monk splash - far from it.

there are lots fo fun ways to go with tempest after 12. Most select the Exploiter which is a great build, but I myself do nto follow cookie cut builds and/or like to tweak them. I am currently working on a double tr 18/2 ranger/monk. SO far so good. He is actualyl an AA but str build, will have decent mitigating AC twf mainly but has slayer for when needed.

Aside that, another fun build you could look at is a 13/6/1 Ranger-Tempest II/Paladin KoC I/monk 1, TWF Dwarf DA. 13 levels maxes out your Favored Enemy, add KOC for additional damage against EO coupled with FE EO, and burst smites, heals decent AC and great base damage and I am sure you will haev fun.

Paladin 2 could really boost your saves IF you have enough Charisma AND you happen to be Lawful Good. Probably not the case, but something to consider.
