    Default Data per Hour

Does anyone know how much data is passed between the client and the server. Looking to see if I need to drop ISP carrier as they are implementing a 250GB download for a month....Kids are watching netflix constantly and I like gaming on DDO normally at least 10 hours a week when i have 10 hours anyhow. Trying to figure out my monthly useage without going through the hassle of setting up monitoring equipment.

Depends on how much you play, but I think you'd be extremely surprised to know that online games use very little bandwidth.

I'd be surprised if you managed to use 500MB (yes, 1/2 of a GB) per month (30 days) of playing DDO.

The only "caveat" i would add to this is yes DDO's general bandwidth usage is low during general gameplay but when its patching for an update, or patching after a reinstall are where you'll see bandwidth use. Just something to keep in mind, typically minor updates aren't excessively large but the big ones can get up there in size.

I've played DDO just fine on a 7GB monthly connection. Only thing I could not do was re-download the client.

    I play a lot.

I'm not sure if Netflix has the service available to everyone, but in Canada we have some cheap ISP's who really like low bandwidth caps.

Netflix recently introduced a new "product" specifically for those users. Their movies/shows are sent in lower detail so are about 2/3 their normal size but look fine on most screens.

    More info from netflix

It does specifically refer to Canadian accounts, so I don't know if it's available to US subscribers as well.

Thank you everyone for the answers. 250GB is alot it's something like 109 hours of hd netflix so as long as the game isn't eating 50 gb or something I would hope I am ok. I know alot of isp's are going to this because people like me are dumping there video service in place of netflix and hulu with the free digital airwaves. I am not missing any of the shows I normally watch and if I feel like channel surfing well free T.V. is still there.

In Australia there are almost no ISPs that offer anything but limited download accounts, and until recently (~2008) most plans either had caps of 25GB or less, or were extremely expensive (~AU$100+/month = US$108).
