    Thanks for all the replies.

I just wanted to clarify a few things that I think got missed from my original post, as well as make a few comments.

    1) I didn't mean that EVERYONE in a guild should have access to a mass mail option. Just the leader and co-leader. This would cut down on any spamming issues that might arise.

    2) I meant in-game mail, not real email accounts.

    3) I definitely meant mass mail to guild members only. Nothing outside of that.

    4) I really like Memnir's idea of a bulletin board on the airship. This would work well I think.

    5) To answer Grizzie's question, the Message of the Day doesn't relay enough information for us in our guild. Between guild quests, problems that arise, rules that need to reiterated, etc etc, the MOTD is just not enough for us.

    6) It was suggested that a guild website could take care of this. We don't have one and have no intention of getting one. A good idea if a guild has access to one but.......

    Just a few thoughts.

Exclamation Another reason to implement this!!

Yesterday two of the officers in our guild took it upon themselves to expel 120 members that they deemed to be inactive, resulting in a renown loss for our guild of over 27,000. Our guild leader was understandably upset. He and I both feel that expelling members is the responsibility of the leader and co-leader and no others, particularly since the guild leader has a master list of people who are inactive for very good reasons (death in the family, illness, vacation, etc. etc). Some of the people who were expelled were on this list.

If we had a bulletin board on the airship where we could post what is expected from our officers (as well as other information we'd like to pass on to the guild members) this unfortunate event might not have occurred. There is just simply not enough room in the Message of the Day to list rules, the free DDO Store item of the day, when the guild quests will take place, etc. etc.

Developers: PLEASE consider implementing a bulletin board that can occupy an item hard point on a guild airship, and thank you for giving us a place to bounce ideas around.

the mail system is archaic and clunky and just barely functional. With toon names being what they are, having to manually type names into the To: box is horrible. I mean, I haven't had to actually type someone's mail addy since when.... snailmail?

    The mail system needs:
-Contact list (already in LotRO. simple)
-Mail to multiple toons (no brainer. toon1; toon2; toon3)
    -Expandable Mail Tree
    +Guild
    >Officers
    >Members
    +Friends
    >List1(customizable, eg: Evening Quest Runners)
    >List2(Other Rangers I've met)
    >List3(Newbs I'm mentoring)
    -Reply
    -Forward
    -Report Spam
    -Select Multiple message for deletion
-Export to .txt (for saving messages offline, not to tie up server resources.)

It's the little things like these that Polish a game, devs. Lets see some love for the little things

edit: and to all who autoDoomsay, I don't buy into that. There are plenty of mmo's with functioning mail systems. And there are plenty of ways to abuse the current system too. What we're talking about is an improvement.

You say: Mass guild in game mail system

I hear: easier to prank guildies who would most likely do it to me...PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE WITH COPPER COINS AND CLUBS OF THE SILVER FLAME!!!!

Cool idea if you're in a mature guild, not so much if the opposite.......

I would like mass mail to guild members ... Wuuld make certain things easier "-)

At the moment, we use "guild website" as well as "guild chat" and the daily "guild message of the day". those three keep all guildies more less informed.

Actually, I've changed my mind. I think Memnir's idea of a bulletin board on the guild airship would work much better than mass email. It could be designed to convey much more information than just a mere message.

ok, barring a better ingame email client, a bulletin board would be nice. make it an ammenty if you like.

for email i'd be happy with an autocomplete dropdown when typing in toon names, with guildies' names highlighted a different color.
