Rather than saying that the servers will go down at 6am EST.
Can we have a timer that counts down the time left until shutdown instead?
It would make it much easier for those players that aren't in the U.S.

Letting us know of a server shutdown the night before would be nice too. I realize that very often we will receive advanced warning, but not consistently. I like to farm a bit in the morning before work and if I know the server will be down I'll stay in bed a little longer, lol.

If you are referring to the in game alert, it goes off an hour before shut down and the every fifteen minutes after that. If you see it in game all you need to know is how long until the top of the next hour as that will be when the shutdown is. Not saying that Turbine shouldn't change it, just an FYI.
My real forum Join date is July 2007. Maybe one day someone will develop the awsome technology to fix this currently unfixable bug.
you know they COULD add a timer to the forums untill server up (or expected server up) but they wont cause thats SOOOOOOO hard to do...
(did i get enough sarcasm into that? should i try again? am i being too cranky?)

That's not true.
I have saw warning notices as far out as 3 hours post shutdown.
Making snide comments about mahts r hard herpderp just shows your ignorance.
Not all places participate in DLST and some even are 1/2 hour off.
So asking for a WARNING SERVER WILL SHUT DOWN IN 1/2 HOUR isn't that far fetched
