Staring at some options to TR one of my toons. May spend life 2 as something else (wizard? sorc?) but will end up back again as a FVS.

She's sturdy. Lately I've been really loving my Sorc-tank and with some fun aggro management, I can pull hate when I want in most general PUG groups with stacking DoTs, etc. The thread around whether Divine Punishment does too much damage is interesting because, in many cases ... I find I want the hate to control combat.

Now, I've seen plenty of splash-built FVS tanks, but I'm looking more closely at a pure build. Sketching out some ideas here, mostly live-brainstorming.


Casterish / Melee second

(1) Need to amp damage
Spell damage, esp. the DoTs are key.
- There are level 3 brilliance pots ... I don't often see the clickies drop or in the AH and not for higher.
- Only potency then would help the DoT at this point then
- PRE boosts light, alignment, fire and untyped
- Condemnation further boosts light/alignment
- There are benevolence clickies / pots (holy smite) and inferno (flame strike, fire storm) but those spells may be unneeded


(2) Need to amp hate on spells
We want attention. And we want to keep it.

- Anathema, Rahl's Might, Ring of Lies - are these "incite" and thus not stacking w/ the appropriate incite levels, or are they separate
- Anathema also has evocation focus, nice double-win for landing spells and generating hate
- Rahl's Might (axiomatic) may be handy for smacking chaotic bosses
- Levik's only boosts Melee hate (ddowiki)
- DT incite is unclear on its effects


(3) Weapon-based damage to cycle through or have on auto-attack while DoTs proc
Option could be to SP dump, but as we're an FVS it may be more suitable to melee the boss and stack DoTs but save most SP for heals. Auto-attack, etc. Bonus to weapons that our aura will boost (light/aligned)

- Radiance (holy / fire / fire + radiance) ... since on crit, high-crit weapons still valued
- Multi-pos greensteel
- Wraps of Endless Light
- Condemnation affects light and alignment damage
- presumably holy/axiomatic/anarchic/unholy/good/chaos/law all boosted as well
- Generic melee damage
- Maybe a play for Epic Xuum?

(4) Need to increase hate on melee
We may not be swinging as much, but we're doing a bit.

- WF or Half Orc
- Traditional Leviks/Claw/DT options


(5) Need to add guards/procs
Once we get attention we need to keep it. Some guards our aura will boost as well.

- Radiance guard
- aligned guards (good mostly, evil only for a few quests)




So, I'm seeing a few possible options here ... anyone else thinking along these lines?
