    Default Why no climb skill?

    I think it would be cool to have the climb skill added, since we already have the animations for climbing ladders. Climbing stuff was always a staple of my pnp games, I mean who didn't buy 50' of rope and a grappling hook? This would give rogue types more usefulness too, if you had dungeons where there were levers or runes up on ledges that needed a high dc skill check to climb too. It could add a new tactical aspect to battles, if you could climb up to a ledge and rain down arrows or spells.

    If they had put it in from the beginning maybe, but now they would have to revamp ALL old content to make a Climb skill relevant.

    Not to mention it only has marginal usefulness in the best of situations, and things like Wind Walk would trivialize it.

    Oh yeah, and there is no rope, either, so....

    Yeah, I would rather they made Spears.

    But when your jump gets u up the cliff with one buff, why climb?

    Same reasons they capped the jump skill.

    This is part of it. Most monsters in DDO are extremely weak at range compared to players.

    Jump will only get you so high up, so if they made ledges beyond any possible jump height, it could be usefull.

    Granted it would be sort of ridiculous to add it at this point, but it seems odd to me that they didn't add the skill which is part of standard 3.5 rules, but added animations and the ability to climb ladders.

    They could've added rope too, just make it an item you hold in your weapon slot that gives you a skill bonus.

    Only Kobold Shamans have the climb skill. That's how they stay up on walls. Everyone else just takes 20 on ladders

    Climb would only be relevant if they nerfed the Jump skill. The game is way to FPSy for that be effective. Alas.

    On the area of thief skills. I want a douse light feat so I can be maor sneaky! Dark Project FTW!

    When is DDO2 coming out ?

    Im not sure what makes us climb at different speeds but we do. It could be STR.
    I think a CLIMB skill would be about 1/10th as useful as the SWIM skill.
    My demands are simple. Ducks, penguins and tortoises as pets. I'll buy hats and bow-ties for them all.

    but to balance now all mobs can cast long ranged extra slipery grease that nulls any kind of feather falling for 10 seconds.
