We've been debating whether to add them to ToD or to a future treasure table. There are enough items in ToD currently that we're not sure if we want to expand those tables even more, making it more difficult to get a specific item.
The ToD ring loot table is overpopulated with too many undesired rings. Unless you add some feature where you can turn in any ring + trophies of war + greater shard for another ring, please don't dilute the loot tables further. It's already painful enough trying to get the ring you want today. Adding more ring sets for current and upcoming PrEs would just exacerbate the problem and not make anyone happy.

I like this idea, but how would you determine which ring you want? There are only 36 different types of shards (6 element types * 3 dom/esc/opp * 2 eth/mat). Assuming that at some point each class will have 3 PrEs, that's only enough for 12 classes. Not a lot of room for additions.

How do you define applicable? On my Wizard, I had all the Wizard ring sets and wanted a +6 strength w/ Exc Con. Limiting the list to a subset of rings based on class would actually suck in many cases. A number of builds work better with another classes rings sadly.
If they are going to do this just list all the rings.

Oh jesus christ you nit-picky person. How's this? The 20th reward list always includes all three rings from the class that you have the most number of levels in and then another random number of rings from the other classes
Screw the fact that other sets work better for other classes than the ones intended. That's what your 20 runs of the quest were for, to have a chance at those other rings.
Also screw trading rings with some other additional cost too. Turbine wants us to grind. Long live the grind!

1) Please don't use my given name on the forums.
2) I'm not nitpicky. I would rather further dilute the loot table and lower the odds of getting the ring I want than be forced into some artificial by class mechanic. For the love of my father, have you see the pre-built paths the devs created. It's obvious many (with exceptions) don't play on high level or understand what is a valuable item for a particular class. The last thing we need is them pigeon holing the 20th based on some ridiculous criteria.
3) It's obvious you don't play at that level either if you think that in 20 runs everyone gets the rings they want. Even in the perfect world of all guild runs this doesn't happen. Some rings are popular and some are vendor trash. Your idea is bad. It would make things worse not better.
Give the full ring list on 20 or build in a trade in mechanic.

This is false.
My pure 20th level Barb did not have the Frenzied Berserker ring in his 20th reward list.
As to the question of whether to dilute the treasure table by adding more rings, may I suggest just increasing the number of rings available to choose from in the 20th reward list to 20 or so?

I would like to see them added, for the sake of completeness. All the other classes have a prestige based ring option out of the raid, another 2 or so rings for favored soul won't break it.
That's not a very good idea. Most melee characters are after the Shintao set, not really a class oriented reward for most melee. Not to mention blue bar classes that also melee, and might either want caster rings or melee rings. The game is pretty bad at random class based rewards as it is, if I check the box in options the game thinks I should be playing with a mace and shield as a (melee) fvs.![]()
The problem with this is some people want rings that are helpful for their build, but not based on their class. How many rogues have the Shintao set, when they don't have monk levels, need concentration and have Wis as a dump stat. They just want the +2 hit/damage set bonus. Meanwhile the rogue sets are complete trash. Very few rogues actually use them, especially the Assassin set.
My cleric has Thamor's ring for the Chr and +3 exceptional Con. I have a FvS that would love the Warchanter band, but not all FvS care about exceptional Str and will get Chr through some other means. What about people that plan to TR into a different class, and want a ring that would work better for that class.

I never said it was the dev's problem, neither should it be their responsibility to solve ours by limiting rewards based on entirely on class. It would be even worse if you ran it 20 times and would never have a chance to pull the ring you wanted because the end reward was based entirely on your class.
With that many named items, perhaps we need a single choice of a multichest pull. Give us a choice of looting a single chest out of three. Each chest will have rewards based on classes. (melee, specialist, caster) This way a wizard could pull from the melee chest if they were hoping for an Encrusted ring, or a rogue could pull from the caster chest if they wanted an Int ring to use for swaping in to do traps.
This would also have the benefit of allowing classes that actually want their class based rings to get a better chance to get one without a watered down named item list.
Hell no. Why the heck would the tempest ranger have to be saddled with the completely useless tempest ranger set, instead of something that improves his dps, as an example?
[Of course, it'd be nice if that set weren't completely useless, and penetrated DR and and added extra damage if tempest III, but since that's not going to happen..]
Now, if you were to rephrase the request so that just for this raid, 1-2 must-have rings always dropped on a 20, plus your PrE ring, on top of whatever else is going to drop randomly (such as +4 tomes, f.ex) then that'd be more interesting.

Rather than creating FvS rings, perhaps some of the existing rings could be made to be dual purpose cleric/fvs, ie make them accept either of the PrEs for their bonus?
This way you could have a Cleric or FvS melee ring set that adds damage and to-hit when used by melees, and one for casters that adds healing or caster level to their spells or something.

If you combine FvS rings with existing rings then why the hell not just combine all the rings and cut down on the fat in the rings. You might as well completely forgo the idea of have sets for each PrE and just have one ring for Clerics, one for FvS, one for Wizards, one for Savants, one for Fighters, one for Barbarians, etc., etc.
Creating the sets was a great idea. Putting them in the raid chest was a crappy idea. Each PrE deserves having their own set and that set bonus should be great to "must have" for the PrE, and it should be meh to 'well if there's no other item I can't find for the slots' for any other PrE even in the same class. The devs just got lazy, or they ran out of time before release, or they really just don't understand the game they design for.
It doesn't really matter though because Big E avoids revisiting raid and loot mechanics like they are the plague.
