    Default Resolution and Alt-Tab issues

On Windows XP I had no problem with this. However I recently switched to Windows 7 Ultimate, and did a fresh install of DDO. Now whenever I alt-tab, and then switch back to DDO, it switches the game to my desktop resolution, and is uncentered. This makes the game unplayable, because I can't see 30%+ of the screen.

So then I increased my desktop resolution to match DDO. Of course, now I can't see very well on the desktop, so I have to also increase the size of text and objects. Alright, so far so good. Except something about increasing those made me unable to select any buttons on the character select screen. They don't light up or anything. I was only able to drag the camera around a bit, and sort of select a couple different characters by clicking on the wrong spots on the screen. So clearly that's not helping. So I reverted the text size in Windows back to the default, just to see if DDO would work correctly like that. It worked fine--except I wasn't able to alt-tab at all. Hitting those buttons literally did nothing.

    Any suggestions?

    I guess that's a no, then.

If I recall correctly, there are separate resolution options for both full screen and windowed modes. Make sure they're both set properly and you should no longer change resolutions when alt-tabbing to window and back.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, it won't let me set the Windowed Resolution to the proper resolution. I can lower the Windowed Resolution, but I can't raise it any higher than 1280 x 768. It will let me click on resolutions higher than that in the drop down box, but then it greys out and sets it to 1280 x 768. My desktop resolution is set to 1280 x 800, so I guess it can't be higher than the desktop resolution or something. And, as noted before, if I increase my desktop resolution, I can't see my non-DDO stuff, unless I increase the text size, which makes DDO unable to go past the character select screen.

    Any other ideas?

You cannot set a program (game or whatever) to have a higher resolution than what windows is set for.

Do you mean a program in Windowed mode? Because I routinely set my full screen games to resolutions much higher than Windows, and I've never had a problem with it before now.
