Default PSA: Bard kiting in TOD part 2 no longer works with the new FVS aura

To all the bards out there who were able to kite the shadows in part 2 of TOD:

We were sans a caster and had 3 FVS in the TOD I ran last night. I volunteered to kite the shadows in part 2 since my bard has glitterdust, shadowwalk, and quicken. I never had any problems kiting pre-U9.

I go to the base of the stairs, lay the glitterdust, turn on shadowwalk, and off I went. I was half-way around the room when people were yelling there were shadows on the stairs, and then people started dying. We wiped on part 2. We ran again with a friend switching to his sorc and there was no problem when damage AoEs were used.

It seems the new FVS AoV aura draws more hate than glitterdust, so the shadows totally ignore the glitterdust. It would probably also draw more hate than solid fog or any of the other non-damage AoE spells. It seems like it is the death of bard kiters...

Oh, and I don't know if the orthons in TOD were supposed to have their wards/immunities removed/reduced or not, but songs (enthrall/capering/etc..) still don't work on the yellow-named orthons

Currently it's not possible to turn off the aura.

What I did in a pug run of the quest was to drop a blade barrier and take over kiting when a similar thing happened. It's been mentioned, and I've done it on my FvS builds numerous times, but in groups without an arcane kiting the FvS makes a good primary choice.

The aura should be a toggle. It's a design flaw that it isn't a toggle IMO.
The aura should also auto-toggle off while in sneak mode. If you're trying to be sneaky and attempting to go unnoticed, you're not very menacing.

have a caster "kite" by not moving. Drop AoE on the party, toss up resists / prots / shield and the shadows shouldn't really be hurting that much. The last 2 times i've been in there a WF caster has solo "kited" in place and never got below 80%, just hitting recon scrolls to keep topped off.

I thought that transferring it to the kiter would be a good option as well. But it seems to go bye bye once they get a distance away. Fun stuff really.

It's also comical to leave a flame trail running away from mobs that know exactly where you are when invisible and in sneak mode. The aura is a powerful tool, but can have it's less than useful moments

Yeah, FVS bring the hate earlier. Often. Always.
