Default Twitter should not be the only avenue for the new promo.

As stated above - Twitter should not be the only avenue for the free stuff promo. I do not and will not have a twitter account. But I should not be disadvantaged compared to those that do ingame - so unless all the free items are cosmetic-only, I have a HUGE complaint here. If whatever codes or whatever you need to claim the free item is posted here in the forums as well, I will be happy - but do not make anything that affects gameplay available through outside social venues.

The polls for the boss competition were one thing, and I think having those go to Facebook and Twitter were in bad taste as well, but did not affect anything ingame. Having someone get free stuff ingame for having a Twitter account is a huge step in the wrong direction.

You don't need to create a twitter account. You can just bookmark http://twitter.com/#!/ddostore instead.

Thank you for the update, I was not aware of that, but I still think that it's in bad taste.

    +1 for the info though.

Yeah I don't actually quite understand why Turbine is so hot on twitter. Its like someone told them they should have a twitter presence and now they are desperate to drive people there. What do they think they gain by making people look at that page who aren't Twits? err...people who use twitter?

what is this twitty thing you speak of?

It sounds like some corporate dude heard of twitter from his kid. Must be the next new thing, so lets have a big push for it on all our games.

    *edit*
I will not follow DDO on Twitter, and I will not start a facebook account

"Social media" such as Facebook and Twitter are an important part of current online marketing strategies.

Basically, everyone is doing it, so Turbine figures they should do it, too. Expect more of this in the future, unfortunately.

Everyone was doing internet transactions with bonuses for your game thing. Turbine thought that was a good idea. THE PACK IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT.

If you are not lazy you can log in everyday and check the ddo store for sales. I am sure this one a day item will appear underneath that category.

More likely they will tweet out a coupon code that gives a free item in the store. Otherwise they wouldn't have advertised it this way.

Yeah, I uttered a bad word or two when I saw that you HAD to have Twitter.

I'll just reluctantly log in to it every day in May, and then no more. Until the next BS Twitter promotion.

    Man, I hate Twitter.

I think including twitter and facebook in their marketing is a great idea. I think excluding everything that isn't twitter or facebook from their marketing is a bad idea.

I have Facebook and Twitter and use them all the time, but I still don't want to have to follow or like DDO in order to find out stuff. Let me friend/like/follow who and what I choose, and don't try to force the issue please.

My intuition tells me that it will be a +1 weapon every day that they give away.

But I hold out hope for better things!

(or those crafting boost things.........like anybody is still going to be crafting in 2 days!)

    I agree.

Personally, I'm using ormsbygore's Twitter Feed Gadget. All the feeds I'm interested in without the need to make an account.

truth is, it seems they WANT twitter and facebook moro.... people to play ddo, and I've noticed that the game is being more and more focused toward 'these types'

(One weapon > all, DPS all that matters, tactics, skills, 'diversified' builds gone in favor of 'DO THIS, CAN'T LOSE, DO THAT WILL LOSE' mentality.)
