nah, not really. there are very few quests where GH is *needed* in the game. even then, the key portion of it (fear immunity) tends to be taken care of with various mass buffs that get spammed, like hero's feast or whatever it's called.
GH is, as a general rule, nice but not required most of the time. i don't buff everyone with it by default on my sorcerers anymore (not even myself), though i will scroll it on someone at their request.
in comparison, i find that i get much better use out of casting reconstruct, even though i'm not warforged. there are enough raids where it comes in very handy, and i can buff it up to hit for significantly more than a scroll, as well as having a much shorter cooldown (mind you, i also carry recon scrolls in case i need both timers, but so far that is extremely rare). *if* i was going to take reconstruct out of my spells known, it sure wouldn't be for GH... i'd go with circle of death, disintegrate, and flesh to stone.
With fewer sorcs passing out Displacement and refreshing it regularly, in favor of pitching nukes, melees are getting hit between 30 and 50 percent more often in many scenarios. That's what he's referring to. There's more incoming damage that has to be dealt with on the healer's end.
Even after losing Extend on offensive spells, at level 16 I'm seriously considering grabbing Extend again. I've got the feat slot for it at 18 for sure, and even my take of GSF: Conjuration isn't of dire importance, so there's possibly 2 places I could slot it in after Max/Emp/Heighten/Toughness/SF:Conj.
Wise fwom your gwave!
