Thumbs down Why the Unique Icons for Monks Only??

    Gonna rant...

Why do monks get unique icons? I don't know why, but this is bothering me for some reason. Monks are already different than the other base classes. This is kind of silly in my opinion. If you are going to give out unique icons, do it to all the prestige classes, or better yet, don't do it at all.

I can only think of a few spots in the game where this differentiation matters to the party leader ~ ToD comes to mind at this early hour, for anti stun. But you don't need an icon to convey this message, you can just ask the monk in question, or ask through /tells before he joins if it is that important. I can also, sort of, see people being declined without question based on their prestige classes, but we'll see.

But seriously, what is the reasoning behind this (anti stun vs. no anti stun, really?)? I hear people ask the following all the time: are you warchanter or spellsinger, are you kensai or defender, are you knight of the chalice or defender, etc. etc. and I am positive there will be even more questions with the new sorcerer enhancements.

My bottom line suggestion is, don't do unique icons, keep it simple and easy. Make people have to communicate with each other, that is kind of how the game is supposedly set up, where communication is key. (I know, I know, graphics/pictures are worth a thousand words, but c'mon)

My not so bottom line suggestion is, if you *MUST* do unique icons, do it for all prestige classes so everyone can feel special, warm and fuzzy and so that everyone will have an equal opportunity to be auto-declined based on their prestige class.

Other than that, the new mod looks fun.

Err...what now? Monk icons are for what the monk player sees on their prestige enhancements.

It doesn't change how they appear on /who or in the party list.

Dunno- maybe he means that a unique icon based on PrE choice shows up in the examine window?

Are you perhaps referring to the Shintao ToD ring set bonus icon that shows in the examine window if you look at a Monk wearing that set?

If so, you should know that 1) all PrEs (except FvS's) get icons for their sets, and 2) many, many characters wear Shintao set without being Shintao, including Ninja Spies, and even non-Monks. Shintao set is simply among the best Melee sets, if not the best.

You can tell if a Shintao III is wearing the Shintao set because they'll have a second icon (which, unless they fixed it, will say "Set bonus", and claim to give 20% threat amp; it does not). But you don't need to be a Shintao III to be a Light Monk; you only need 3 levels of Monk to choose a path, and that's when you get the Anti-Stun.

Well, you can tell any Tier3 PrE who is using their ToD set, because they'll all have an icon for it.
