    Default Alternatives to DDO?

I think it's finally been too much from Turbine. Looking at swapping from DDO and for something else to occupy my time. Anyone have any suggestions.

I am looking to get away from the WoW mentality DDO seems to be embracing more and more.

Unfortunately there isnt anything out there that even comes close to DDOs combat system and feel of play. I have left the game twice to try other things and ended coming back here. If there was an alternative I think many of us would have joined your exodus long ago.

Darkfall has the FPS feel, and it does the same with Archery and spells wich is cool. It was a bit wonky / rough around the edges. Also it's heavily PvP Centric.

Other than that play Mount and Blade, it's great for twitch melee combat etc.

All I can say is that DDO is still a millennium from being even remotely close to WoW. IF you mean they try to simplify it to make money. Your out of luck, cause they are here to make money and unfortunately they gotta sell that TP.

I've tried em all and they are more WoW-like than DDO. GL in your travels and I hope you find what your looking for.

Which just encourages people to find the bugs and exploit them.

Well, they just said today that the Marvel Comics MMO is gonna be F2P.
Now you just need to wait for TBA to play it.

    Can I have your stuff?
I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it.

I'd also have to recomend Portal/Portal 2 for some totally different from DDO - yet totally awesome gameplay. Portal is rapidly becoming one of my favorite game series of all time by virtue of great writing, fantastic puzzles, and wonderful characters.

If you don't have a gaming console - download Steam and check em out.
Hell, download Steam anyway and check out the games for sale there... you will find something.

Nice try. Not sure I'm gone 100%, just not giving my money to Turbine anymore. Sick of the constant nerfing and changes. If they felt casters were overpowered then they should have added new content which b!tchslapped casters not make it so my lvl 20 wiz felt like a pew-pew wimp. I gave update 9 it's chance, but after seeing my TWF WF Ftr and TWF dwarven barb get slapped down, and now seeing my 2 TR toons take it up the rear, not to mention the awful crafting implementation, I am not longer willing to pay for DDO.

Portal 1 was pretty short - but it was also never billed as a full length game. That's why it came out as part of the three game "Orange Box" a few years back. But, being short in no way diminishes it's awesomeness. It packs more humor and innovative gameplay into a short game then most companies get into a full sized one. It's well worth playing. And, at a first time run-through of six or seven hours... that is still as long as a lot of current gen single-player campaigns in games with multiplayer components.

And Portal 2 is a full sized game - and is even better as a result.

    I cannot recommend them enough.
