Bardic Fascinate woes
So, with Update 9, Power Word Kill lost its HD/HP cap. Now, provided a wizard targets something w/o spell resistance, they have a spell that can instantly kill a mini-boss...w/o a save.
That seems awfully powerful to me (and I'm all for that power).
But here's where I'm going with this:
Things that work on mini-bosses:
Hold Person
Hold Monster
Power Word Kill
Otto's (all 3 variations)
Web
Power Word Kill
Things that don't work on mini-bosses:
Charms
Bardic Fascinate
(These lists are not all-inclusive) Now, I could understand disallowing the Suggestion song to work on mini-bosses...esp since charms seem to be the only things that mini-bosses are immune to.
But Fascinate? Really? Fascinate is more of a problem than a no-save death effect?
I'm trying not to be abrasive, but that really is pretty absurd.
Can we please get this looked at again? The only time that Bardic Fascinates have worked on mini-bosses was when there was a mistake in the code. Can we get that put back? If a hold or any other type of disabling CC works on a mini-boss, there is absolutely no reason for fascinate to be disallowed.
And based on the fact that the Virtuoso's Entrallment song has NEVER worked with the Suggestion song, we know that it's possible for a creature to be affected by one bard song but not another.

Soundburst woes
And while I'm ranting about bard problems , can we please get Soundburst looked at?
15 sp for a 1d8 damage and a 6 second stun versus 15 sp for Greater Shout with 5d6+30 damage and a 6 second stun.
There is no reason for Soundburst to be as expensive as Greater Shout. I used to alternate Greater Shout, Shout, Soundburst on my main bard when I was doing the bard equivalent of "nuking" (kinda silly, since our damage spells are mostly ****...but I still enjoy it ).
Now, I just use Greater Shout and Shout. I'm about to use my Blood of Dragons to completely get rid of Soundburst because there is now not a single reason for a high level bard to EVER take that spell...it's just not cost-effective. And it seems highly punishing for a low level bard.
A lvl 4 bard who had just picked up Soundburst would spend 15sp for 1 cast of it. It would deal 1d8 damage (average of 4.5) to however many enemies were in the area.
But if you wanted to do more damage, you would have more luck casting Sonic Blast 4 times for 16sp and a total of 3d2+4 damage (average of 8.5 per cast) to 4 different enemies.
So, if you had 4 enemies you were fighting, that would work out to an average damage per spell point spent of 1.2 for Soundburst and 2.125 for Sonic Blast...almost double.
