    Default Symbol of Persuasion

    ...now gives periodic saves? O_O

Just went into the tide turns, and after firewalling the first group, I dropped a symbol, then pulled and herded the melee orcs into the symbol. They got charmed as usual. However, they broke charm almost immediately. Repeatedly.

This is not how the spell works per description, and it is not how the spell used to work. The exact same orcs used to be charmed for several minutes. Is this an intended change? If it is, are charm and suggestion spells now the same thing, except for minor differences in duration?

Was this epic? I would assume so, given the use of Symbol in that quest.

Perhaps they made the epic-ward's Charm resistance more aggressive. Did you see the "Save" hexagon over their heads?

    Edit:

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Ward

This page is outdated, but shows that Symbol of Persuasion was an exception before, and that it lasted longer than other charms. Sounds like they fixed a bug.

It seems you are right, I just tried it again and indeed there is no save, the charm just ends after several seconds. "Epic enemies break out of charm spells faster than non-epic quests" on that page is really underselling this difference, they might as well be immune with how fast they break charm.

    Oh well. Back to firewall.

They also break out of mass hold fairly fast.

Huh... and they're not saving, due to their higher saves? That seems contrary do what Epic Ward is supposed to do. And really nerfs CC-based Wizards into the ground even more than I thought.

    Hopefully Web is still useful.
