Default my hirelings are not lasting very long

hi, i bought 2 hirelings yesterday: 001-007005-64157926 and 001-007005-64157928. seems like these guys disappeared in way less than an hour. i was in a dungeon and saw them wink out from my inventory while they were not summoned. but it seemed like the clock was still ticking.

i think this has happened previously a few times in the last week. my character is dworkan.

is this the right forum for this kind of thing?

    thanks

Your contracts last 1 hour from the first time you use them.

It doesn't matter if you summon the hireling or not, as soon as you enter a quest or a wilderness area the contract will continue ticking.

The timer will pause in public areas though.

If your contract runs out in the middle of a dungeon it will disappear, but the summoned hireling will stay with you until you enter a public area.

Also note that this only happens while the hireling is in your backpack -- you can toss them into your bank if you've started them, but don't want to use them for the next quest you planned an want to save them for later. Though, frankly, just regular hirelings are cheap enough, I'm usually content to just let them run out. I do use the bank trick for gold seals though.

Until you summon the timer doesn't start, or didn't before U9.

After you summon every non public area starts the timer ticking again even if you don't resummon. They may have reverted to the pre u8 or 7 code where timers ticked down in public areas after a summon. Hopefully if they did that's a bug.

It should but I've seen that not happen.

If you happened to place a partially-used hireling contract in your bank, it will be ticking in the public area as soon as you put it back into your backpack. Is that what happened to you?

Thanks, I've been using hirelings for the year + I've been playing and didn't know this!
