pure sorceror DCs are lower by 3 than pure archmage of chosen school with +2 int capstone. Not to mention that feat starvation leaves them with less chances to get greater spell focus. Also, wizards (especially elven) have easier time overcoming enemy SR (more feats mean possibility to get GSP feat, elven arcanum works only for wizards, not sorcs).
BUT THAT'S OKAY! We, sorcs, excell at other things, at spells that don't give saves. I've ran in 12-sorc shroud shortly after u9 came live. and it was fun, glorious fun.
Tho, even if it is okay, Savant prestige line seems sometimes underpowered compared to high DC enchantment archmage hypnotizing countless mobs on echoes of power. Or, high DC transmuter having heightened Flesh to stone as SLA. Or necromancer.
I would recommend one change that most sorcs would cherish, namely, 3rd tier of savant should add 1 to DCs of spells and SLAs of given element.
Alternatively, adding burning blood for fire/earth, biting cold for water, and eladar for air as purchasable SLA (like purchasable SLAs for Archmage)
i'm not entirely certain the SLAs are really even all that good anyways... in questing with just myself as a PM wizard using SLAs alongside a water savant, it really seemed like the deciding factor for who got the most kills tended to be when you decided to drop the wail of the banshee bomb. apart from that, i'd say we each tended to do about the same overall... now granted, kill count is not the perfect measurement of DPS, but it isn't a completely worthless one either, provided nobody is deliberately trying to pad their kill count.
perhaps more testing will lead to a different conclusion, but at the moment... i can't say that i see savant as being that great, based on what i've seen so far.
nah like it can stack 5x, i think its supposed to be 3x or something. (also, the time was probably a bit longer, its was a test thingy and one of teh clerics said: "wow 4 and a half minutes", but in an indignant way, so he was probably downing it a bit... still great dps tho 8D)
According to the release notes it's not supposed to stack at all. If it is stacking (I am cuurently trying to re-level my sorc to levels needed for it) then you are right - it does not need buffed. This was what I was trying to get changed - savants need the stacking curses to be viable. I was campaigning to get the curse to be stacking to 3.
