    Default Help, Update 9 Nuked My Sorc!

    What in the name of god happened? Yesterday I was wandering about firewalling and glaciation 8 polar raying things to my hearts content. Now with the new update it appears that being a firewaller and a polar ray sorc is going to be quite difficult...

    I thought it would be good to copy and paste the enhancement change area for casters to Word to print out....it is 30 pages long. Clearly even our beloved leet nerds may take a day or two to figure this kind of change out.

    At least you knew we we in trouble when the first two enhancement changes list were:

    • Many class-specific spell modifying enhancements have been removed, and replaced with more generic enhancements.
    • All sorcerer and wizard damage amplification, spell critical chance, and spell critical multiplier enhancements have been removed.

    #1 may cause a grumble in the casting guilds, but #2 made every single one of them gag on their blue energy tonics. What does that mean? Will I have, oh say, 40 skill points when I log on? Is there a possibility I wont be able to start a campfire on a rainy day while providing ice cubes for party members' refreshing beverages between fights? If this is the case, I may have gone from mostly useless to completely useless.

    Right now I am leaning towards Earth Savant as it has no affect on fire or cold. I don't use lightning at all so the penalty is inconsequential. But maybe lightning will be the new element of choice under this new system, however it works.

    Hopefully some leet nerd reads this and tells me what to do....

    They've removed the old elemental damage enhancement lines and replaced them with new ones. Each element now has it's own set of enhancements, yes it kind of sucks compared to the old ones. The notes have been available for several weeks now on the Lam forums, so most casters were aware of the coming changes.

    By going Earth or Air Savant you will suffer no penalties to your Wall of Fire or Polar Ray, however it will be difficult to put many points into elemental enhancement lines for fire and ice after meeting the pre-reqs for the savant line that you choose.

    Also note that Wall of Fire has been nerfed in other ways, you may want to read the notes on spell changes carefully if you play a caster regularly.

    Long story short - old enhancments went to 40% bonus. New ones go up to 50%

    For the *same* AP you spent on fire/cold previously you can have fire + cold at 50% but with 2% less crit chance.
    You gain 10% base dmg for a slightly lowered crit chance. Or you could spec in fire/acid or whatever you'd prefer.

    *bonus* - 1 AP used to give you 10% dmg amp - now it gives 20% - but only for 1 element. Sooooo you get more bang for your buck per AP spent on your non focus elements.

    I'm not saying you will/should like the change - just saying give it a shot before you think the world has ended - and if you are AP starved and don't want to change you don't *need* to max out an element to have the same damage bonus you had previously.

    Yeah... the sarcastic complaint posts are a bit worn out these days..

    So, in the event you were serious... There have been release notes on the Lamannia forums for almost the entire month... this really shouldn't be a surprise (as many of these specific changes were known about since the beginning of the month).

    The wizard did it !

    Its a whole new game out there for the sorcs out there now .

    If my understanding of the situation is right FW now is level capped at 15 and going Water savant would give you -6 levels to your casting . so efectively at 20 your FW will be a level 14 FW , rather than th emax of lv 15 ?

    Am I right on that ?

    I could be wrong but IIRC the elemental enhancements all cost one AP, while before they'd cost more with each tier. We're also getting an enhancement line for force spells.
