I'm not disagreeing with your general argument, you make a good point.
But to me personally, with a good amount of plat and more majors than I could ever use it makes no difference. Perhaps i'm pampered by guild runs.
And thats because you always said to! In many cases I could have used no scrolls and still not run out of sp.

This. I have no problems using scrolls, and in fact can attest to the value of them when coupled with a good tank. I had the pleasure of healing in a Hard VoD where my scrolls, with 1 tier of W&SM, landed at 270hp a pop. I have also found myself healing "Tanks" where empowered Heals landed for 200hp a pop (Warforged). Guess how many of the former I find compared to the latter?
I've found two of the former. This thread would cause the forums to crash should I attempt to list the latter.
TBH, if I start an LFM, I'll often declide Barbarians I don't know or haven't played with at least once (and almost invariably if I have played with them) in favor of less spongy classes. I've found that their "uber dps" isn't worth it.

Any WF that is supposed to be a maintank and isn't pouring everything he/she can into healing amp is well....yeah, one of those. Especially in TOD where deaths create situations where consumables might be required.
I consider it my own obligation to build toons that can either A. take care of themselves or B. Reduce the burden on the healers as much as possible.
I prefer both. I have Barb with 175% healing amp and silver flame pots, a Pale Master, a self healing full UMD Paladin and a full UMD pure DPS ape Assassin Rogue and each and all of them can take care of themselves with buffs to reduce incoming damage, healing amp or self healing.
I don't think the average player realizes how fantastically awesome it is to have a self sufficient toon though. I know I didn't until I got silver flame pots and was able to sever my umbilical to every healer on Ghallanda. I used to drain blue bars just by walking through the marketplace, now I can keep myself alive while tanking horoth if I have to.
I'll never build another toon that can't take care of itself.
And if worst comes to worst and something I'm doing is a burden on healers I'll toss them a couple of pots or some plat to buy a new stack of scrolls etc.
