Default Guild Admins please help a new Guild Admin

    Hey there,

So, my fearless leader has tasked me with promotion, recruitment, and website admin for our guild. It's a small guild (so far), and we've managed to get her up to level 16 at this point. Our first airship is paid for, waiting for lvl20 to purchase.

Now, I'll handle recruitment and promo, it's the website admin I need help with. I've opened a free guild hosting site, and starting plugging in some initial content. My questions are:

    1) Should I be setting up our current members with logins on the site, or send them in-game mail directing them to sign up on the site on their own?

    2) What kind of things should I/we be focusing on with the site in these early days, as far as content goes?

    3) Open Advice: As a Guild Admin, what advice do you have for a new Guild, examples, good resources, must have widgets, pitfalls to look out for, etc.

I know there are lots of great guilds out there, and many of you admins have done stellar jobs managing your guild and making your members happy. I'm hoping you'll share your wealth of experience with me and maybe with someone else starting a guild and reading the thread. Thanks in advance

The Easiest way to get your guild members to sign into your site/forums is to put the announcement in the Guild Motd, and send anyone that lingers or goes "Missing" from the forum/site an in game e-mail and offer to help them out.

This brings up a point: the Turbine ToS states that we can't use in-game chat or mail for the purpose of sharing personal contact info. Would this qualify? That is, is it allowed to put our guild forum url in our MotD? It must be ok, since we can add links to our MyDDO pages...

To the best of my knowledge, personal contact info, would be real life name, phone number, mailing address, etc. Putting the URL of a web site I would believe does not fall into the category of Personal Contact Info, or a forum URL.

However if you use the site/forum to get personal contact info, like, for example, peoples phone numbers, etc, that might fall into a gray area, but I have the feeling you are just making a forum, where people sign in and have a guild only discussion.
