Default Help me with my math!

Looking for some math on my weapons of mass distraction

Ok doing my 3rd tr of my thf fighter.

I dont have the math to back this up, but i feel the order of my weapons at level 12 goes something like this for mobs with no fort

    sos
    lit 2 ga
    min 2 ga
+4 shocking burst of pure good (with icy kit)

I dont have the math to back this up, but it seems the increased crit range on the sos puts it clearly ahead of everything except maybe the lit 2. and only the lit 2 when the strike goes off.

am i right? or is just the perception that i have?

Are we talking SOS or epic SOS? Generally it's esos>green steel weapons>sos

The order of the greataxes is correct, barring immunities/DR/etc.

Where the SoS lies depends upon your base damage (ie, in the inventory screen it will list the damage as 2d6+52 or something; that "52" number is important). This is because SoS's advantage lies in a higher critical range than the greataxe, which adds more dps the higher your base damage is. The LitII's advantage lies in the lightning strike, which does not scale with base damage. So, for a high enough base damage the SoS will win. Otherwise the LitII will win.

    Cheers,

    GS great-axe has an advantage of 3.5 from base dice, effectively worth 3.5 * 24 / 20 = 4.2.

Effect-wise, Lit II gives you 3.5 shocking burst, 7 holy, and 9ish lightning strike on every hit, 22 shocking burst/blast on every crit, 14 on 20. (For a level 12 character, 600 damage could conceivably be overkill at a significantly higher rate than for a level 20 character. This doesn't really concern me.)

    In sum, (3.5 + 7 + 9 + 4.2) * 19 + 22 * 2 + 14 = 508.3

Also, the Lit II has a small edge in glancing blows, which for a level 12 character is going to be a small contribution anyway so let's move on.

    .

Same multiplier, SoS has 4 more range, so SoS gets another 4 * 2 * (base damage). Therefore, if your base damage is higher than 508.3 / 8 = 63.5375, the SoS is better. 2d6 + 5 = 12 to start with from the weapon, Power Attack = 10, 4 from Fighter feats, 5 from fighter enhancements, that's 31 before Strength, gear, or buffs. It's probably the Lit II, but it's probably pretty close.
