Sorry to those posting, blaming the Vets for ''elitism''. Thats just not true in this case. All the Vets did this quest loads of times with No Epic gear or Tod rings at 14-16 and it was a doddle even then.
Appears to me to be more a bit of Ranger hate, especially Ranged Ranger hate.
Was it only a short while ago that a 350Hp Ranger with 80AC a pair of WOP/L11 rapiers and a high UMD ruled the game. How things change eh?
Your toon is more than worth his spot in a Shroud. You know it, I know it. Their loss. I'll give you a spot anytime.
Or, in other words:

I could point out how killing every twilight fan could result in a massive reduction if the world’s MILF population. But then that would summon the Cube and bad things would happen here.
So, to paraphrase the immortal wisdom of Carl Spackler:
If we kill all the Twilight fans they’ll lock us up and throw away the key!
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
- Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
- Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
- Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
- Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
- Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
YOu should solo it... Just to show off... I tgink u can.

I wish there was some way for a raid leader to know who was going to pull their weight and who isn't.
Personally, my approach to the Shroud depends on the time of the day. During peak time I'll accept anyone because chances are I know half the people in the group anyway and if not the priority is to get the thing moving.
However, when I put up a Shroud in the wee hours of the morning when no one I know is online then I take a bit more care with who I accept into my Shroud run. Firstly, I have the time to, the Shrouds not going to fill in 30 seconds; if I don't consider who I'll accept then I'll just be sitting around twiddling my thumbs. Secondly, I find that the worst gimps tend to crawl out at these hours. It's possible you hit my LFM as I put up a Shroud last night in the wee hours and I had about 5 arcane archers hit my LFM, 4 of which had less than 300 HP and strength of less than 25; I don't care how you look at it, those players were a liability. So I myDDO'd. Got into a fight with one guy (a pure fighter) for wanting to check that he wasn't planning to beat on harry with his T1 cutlasses, he RQ'd before we set off. Had another long chat with an arcane archer with a minII longsword and a tier 2 GS longsword, he ended up too offended to join considering that I questioned his choice of longswords (didn't necessarily have a problem, just a strange choice).
But you know what? In part 4 when 2 of the heaviest DPS DC'd (simultaneous, probably a server issue) we still finished in almost 1 round. Part 5 wasn't so smooth, somehow the clerics burned their SP and someone had to drink a pot though at that stage we were 10 men.
I think you've got an obligation as a raid leader to get the job done as quickly and painlessly as possible. At certain times of the day that means not being picky (as that slows down getting started) and just going with roughly the first 12. At other times of the day if you have the time to check some people which are more likely to be a liability then what's the harm in it? Certainly if I hadn't I doubt that particular Shroud would have ended so well or at least more pots would have been used.
Summary of some thoughts I have when building a Shroud raid;
Assets: Good Players (people I know, guilds I know). Solid Characters (familiar builds). Cohesive Groups (people who can answer a question about their character without getting offended).
Possible Assets or Liabilities: Healers without mass heal, arcane archers, pure rogues, strange multiclass builds, having less than 8 melee DPS, level <20/ungeared characters
Liabilities: Rogues with ~0 fort and <300 HP, Dexterity based Arcane Archers with <300 HP, Healers without the gear/SP pool/skill to last a few rounds, more than 1 arcane when they aren't geared/specced for DPS, more than 2 healers when none of them can contribute DPS, more than 1 non-DPS-specced bard
Don't get me wrong, every group will have some liabilities, especially ones you don't know about beforehand. However, the trick is to recognise the balance and keep it in favour of completing painlessly with some margin for error (if people DC or whatever).

It wasn't you. You'd remember me if it was me. I may have publicly questioned the raid leader's mental capacity as well as reminded how much time he'd been waiting for one last dps after rejecting me (7 minutes).
I mean I'd understand if you already had a bunch of archers, but this guy didn't have a single one, nor did he even ask me if I was an archer or melee based.
I hear you though, dex-based archers that don't have a single melee weapon in their inventories let alone on their action bar are sort of annoying.
jesus dude, insecure at all? had you been harassing me like that after being declined, not only would I have squelched you, my guild had squelched you, i had advertised recommending everyone in all chat channels to squelch you, but would've filed an in-game complaint for harassment.
people are ********, move on and form your own group. I've been declined for the silliest of reasons countless times, so have all my friends/guildies. laugh it off and move on, no reason to waste energy over it (as frustrating as it can be).
