Default You can't tell me I'm not good enough.

I've run the shroud **** near 100 times. I'm one of twelve people in the world who can say they finished the shroud on hard first (when the level cap was 4 levels lower and there wasn't nearly as good gear). I've got Min II khopeshes and enough silver arrows to kill every Twilight fan in the world when manyshot is up. Raged and not including madstone I've got 477 HP with 50% healing amplification. And you're telling me that I'm not good enough to do the shroud?

Oh well, I bet it was fun waiting what was at least 7 minutes for that final DPS spot. I'm sure in the end you saved soooo much time choosing someone over me.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying I'm amazingly good, I'm just saying that I'm well than good enough for a raid designed for level 16s.

I do like shooting twilight fans with silver arrows.

But in the end, because you said I can't.

    You're not good enough.

Disclaimer: I had nothing to do with that shroud, nor the server.

I read the OP with a backpacker beat playing in my head, in the voice of Eyedea.

We just completed our second permadeath shroud, with thrift store gear and half our dps didnt even have DR breakers. This raid is seriously a joke for anyone in PUGs who has run it a few times. The stuff you can buy on the brokers nowdays is overkill to run this raid we used to do at level 14.

The OP is right. The fact that people still screen for this is pathetic, tossing up LFMs for 18-20 and checking gear, lol - because you basically have to TRY to fail it.

Glad it was Sunday and not Monday. Finally got an alt flagged for shroud, and rushed into a shroud group. My first time as a caster, and all ready to do duty on part one.

In addition to the trogs and other mobs, little did we expect the mighty lag monster to come through the portals. I think I was able to target and slay (no wail on my 17 sorc) 3 whole mobs in part 1. Part 2 was equally interesting (though due to play clueless/unlistening seems more likely than lag). After that things smoothed out.

Mmmm... twilight fans + Silver Arrows = a better world.....

Seriously though, don't sweat it. People have a bad habit of knowing (or at best thinking) what's best for their groups.

No, it is not you that is not good enough. It is some players who gave rangers a bad name. It is a perception issue. I know, I have a ranger with mineral II and lightning II weapons; TOD rings, just some leaders I don't know what to say. Some shroud leaders were building a perfect combination of party.

I have also have 2 True Incarnated wizards, who do amazingly well burst DPS, just cannot get into Shroud groups when ONE or TWO casters are already in the group.

I just don't understand what is so difficult with normal shroud that even reincarnated wizards OR rangers with green steel weapons/TOD rings and more than 20 completions under their belt cannot join the last spot.

Even my True Incarnated level 20 Maximum DPS bard (She makes normal shroud runs like casual, and hard ones normal). She cannot join a NORMAL shroud group when there is already one bard in the group.

There are even barbarians who are built very badly. 280 hit point barbarians. They got into groups just fine...

    +1 to OP.

I know when I throw up an LFM for the shroud it is almost always 18-20. Not because I only want level 18s, but because that's the default level range selected if a level 20 character throws up an LFM. I have no problem taking lower level characters and I'd imagine many people have similar sentiments ands LFMs.

I occasionally have people ask if I mind taking a level 17 and I always say of course, LFM 18-20 only because that's the default. Then they usually say they were just making sure.

I could understand how this might be confusing or off-putting, but my guess is that most people don't intentionally exclude level 17s from the shroud.

Being L20 as I repeat the raids, I will usually put up a shroud LFM with 17-20. The only question I've asked a "non-qualifying" toon that hit the LFM is something along the lines of "You do know you're not going to get much XP, right?" IIRC he was L15.

When he replied "Yes", I hit Accept. Even if he was gimp it wouldn't have affected the completion chances. (Turned out he was a dual-GS wielding TR who was knowledgable about the build anyway).

I'd rather have a gimp "DPS" join and contribute 2% to the part4/5 beatdowns, turning the 1 rounder into a 1.1 rounder, than wait another 5 minutes for the "right stuff" to maybe come along. Far sillier things are encountered, such as healers standing back during portal beat-downs to heal the group instead of bashing the portal with their club of gimpness, and some casters who like to conserve all their sp during part 4 round 1 instead of contributing to DPS.

But all in all, my basic rule of thumb is: If PUGing, ensure you bring your sense of humor along. It solves a lot of blood pressure related problems.

I'm looking forward to getting declined cause there's no way a melee FVS can heal.
And also there's no way I can have DPS if I can heal.

In short, some raid group leaders are stupid. Better get used to it and find other Shroud runs if it happens.

Hahaha I started that same fight the other night in a PuG Shroud! Party had a Cleric and two Flavored Soul's. One Flavored Soul dc's in part 1, "Hey Cleric I hope you can solo heal!" I immediately made the comment "What about the other Flavored Soul? We still have two healers." The battle was on....

pug guy: Can't you see she is a WF melee?
    me: and???
pug: She cant heal, she's melee specc'd
me: Why can't she help heal?
    pug because she's &^$@&*&^# melee you *&^#%#&* &*#^#^#&*#* #*^##^&##&
me: Well, I have a melee built Flavored Soul and I solo heal
me: If a healing CAPABLE class can't handle HELPING heal a Shroud, maybe it's time to reroll...

Then I shut up and let the guy rant. Turns out the healing incapable melee Flavored Soul was his wife. LMAO

BTW, last night I put solo healed an Epic Von 6 on my melee Flavored Soul

Blah, I missed it, went to swap to Pork to run that epic von and it was gone.

I think I know who you're talking about on that melee FvS, I ran with them once, probably won't do it again. In fact, I won't run with any of the "we can't heal" FvS if I can help it.

I haven't been declined, or even asked if I can heal on Porksoda (knock on wood)

Re-rolled same build I had 2 lives earlier...and it happened quite a few times =(
It's like when I had an exploiter build and I had to send tells every time saying "I can do traps..." to get invited to groups that needed that.

Have hope! Some people that are running shrouds actually read the forums. I let a 9 cleric, 11 sorc in once. Guess what, we still completed.

Sure, if there is a squishy or 3 I'll have to chug a pot or twelve. Forget about it.
If you are too silly to realize that if you died once, after you get a rez that you'll die again, you don't get another rez. But, you'll still get loot.

I kinda feel bad about not letting the level 12 fighter go that asked.

Its really all the vet elitist fault, they created this image of having to ahve the best, then the newbs come along who think content we had back at a 14 cap is end game, and demand end game builds for something a casual play for fun 14 build can stomp these days.

I myself rarely build for epic content, but the fact so many newbs think a normal shroud is EPIC is what really makes me feel sick and like laughing all at once.
