Double Post, sry
Here is my list of top 20 quest in order of personal favorites
1. The Forgotten Caverns - Short quest of perfect length w/ collapsing floor and just enough variety in scenery (dungeon rooms, mushroom pools and caverns, vault like doors and smashable wooden door) and enemies (mephits, oozes, earth elementals and trolls). First DDO quest I experienced to fully capture the flavor of pnp dungeons and dragons from my youth. Always fun every time! I never tire of running this quest on each new character I create.
2. The Jungle of Khyber (Von #3) - When run at level, the battles with the Inevitable, trio of prelude bosses, and host of beholders can feel Epic. Fun tough bosses that have a fair chance to kill you but who can be defeated with a host of tactics rather than only some contrived raid gimmick. Nice high fantasy story too.
3. Undermine - Mines!!!! Kills Kaboom AND opens walls/floors/secret rooms! Great Humor and great gameplay (stealth/ranged/solo or zerg).
4. The Snitch - Traps, chasing obnoxious halfling, Crateos, decently challenging end boss and tough optional [rust monster]
5. Chronoscope - Innovative setting, fun optionals, enjoyable at any level.
6. Litany of the Dead - Excellent replayability, tough traps and tough and varied end monsters
7. Into the Deep - Visually stunning, distinct from other quest, modular design (temple, mine, "wilderness", palace) makes replay more varied, tough optional end boss (demon). More extra tough optionals after quest completion please - I love these extra hard nothing to lose challenges.
8. Spies in the House - "Pit"-lite w/ all the fun w/ only half the brain power. Vertical dungeons are a cool change of pace.
9. Irestone Inlet - Exploding Ships!!!
10. Legend of Two-Toed Tobias - Just the right amount of under water swimming. Fun easy puzzles. Nice challenging end boss.
11. Party Crashers - We get to uses skills!!! Multiple endings, toilet shrine, tough optional end fight, lots of fun optionals, creative
12. Chains of Flame - Another vertical dungeon makes the list. Some interesting optionals (going blind, trying to keep the prisoner from being cooked). I've always enjoyed playng hide and seek with the slaves. Any quest where I can be an abolitionist is more fun for me.
13 Siegebreaker - Bucket of Destiny!!! Boss with frying pan, BIGGG exploding barrel, ogres on rust monsters!! Fun, fun, fun!
14. The Prisoner -Dream landscape makes this quest memorable from others of its level. Much more fun now that the auto-fail condition is removed. Even then it was good for its challenge.
15. Where there is Smoke - An outdoor quest instead of another sewer at low levels AND we get to rescue dogs and put out a fire (heroic enough for me at 3rd level)
16. Tomb of the Unhallowed - Cool mechanic and atmosphere shifting to the plane of the dead. A hidden gem in the necropolis.
17. Eyes of Stone - Exploding kobolds in library, using stone to flesh salve, big trolls, has a fun hogwarts vibe. Feels very AD&D-ish.
18. Framework - Catapults for the win!
19. Claw of the Vulkoor - Stealth quest! w/ with the option for the much less desirable brute force method rather than an all or nothing fail condition. Eberron lore, excellent magic flavor (scorpion transformation, staff pacifying guardians), tough optional boss.
20. I Dream of Jeats Another world on the backside of mirrors, plus the good stuff.
Honorable mention goes to the Crystal Cove. I didn't put it on the list since it was an event rather than a quest but certainly deserves a spot in my top twenty.
STK is my utmost favorite. I mean sure there is faster XP, better loot, and tougher monsters elsewhere but it remains my all time favorite DDO dungeon. I love the sense that there is a huge world down there and my party is just cutting a tiny cross section of it.
I like how in the third part the traps and terrain serve as an equalizer. The cistern with the switches up top would be easy, except that the traps give a big hometeam advantage to the hobs, and most parties have a difficult time trading spells unless they can close the distance. Another great example of a defensive position is in the swiped signet. Again, archers with a commanding viewpoint guarding a switch can put out more hurt than when they're bunched up in a hallway.
Life is too short to powerlevel. I don't care how sub-optimal STK is I enjoy min-maxing my fun!The shame is that I never run it anymore. Starting characters at level 4, I jump straight into Tangleroot for power-leveling. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Epic StK – maybe the guardian fight will be fun again!
I'd also like to call out THE PIT. I like how unusual that quest is. I've never seen anything quite like it. Just this week, I convinced a friend to try DDO by telling him about the pit.
Oh, and Tempest Spine for the big ol puzzle-while-fighting. I need more of that.
Vision of Destruction is fun but I especialy like navagating the Sub. Like STK, there's way more map than I need. I like the sensation of traveling a well known path but knowing that if I slip from that I'll be lost.
Rainbow in the Dark and Cole Chamber. I don't always feel up to the challenge, but I really apreciate that the challenge is there when I feel up to it. I guess I'd put the reballanced and hard-to-do Crystal Cove in this catagory too.
Tears of Drakan is a good one too. My favorite odd moment in that one was when someone got incapped, healing cursed and by the clay golem and then stableized. He stayed that way for several miniutes! I liked how limited healing it used to be but I'm saving my outrage till I get a chance to run it. The only thing I didn't care for in Tears is running back to the rest shrine before the villiage. It's the smart way to play, but running through all those empty hallways kills the magic.
Shan-To-Kor Great quick quest chain, heading deep into enemy territory action.
Party Crashers. Love the variety and social aspect of it, and the hey what's in the vault optional
Tear of Dakhann. Another great enemy territory quest, the village chamber always makes me nervous, combined with temptation to get shard from Golem.
Come out and Slay: Must fight your way out fun.
The Snitch: mad chase after villian, with lots of variety on the way.
The Church and The Cult: Definitely the DR breaker quest, the Vampire is to be feared in this one at level, have been near wiped pugging it several times, also it drops Silver bow.
STealthy Repossession: Best stealth quest in the game (solo on a stealth toon only though, otherwise its a harried fest with a party)
You know, I'd done this quest several times when it came out, but had skipped all the optionals. Recently, though, I went in at-level on hard (think we were 4-6 or 4-7) and decided that we were going to do all the optionals when I realized that we might actually have enough high stats for the 6 runes, a rogue for the traps (me) and social skills for the ballroom events.
I discovered that the optional portions of the quest are overly punitive.
For one, getting 6 characters with a 22 in a stat at level 6 into one party is highly unlikely. For those 6 stats to each be different is even more unlikely. As it is, I ended up buying a store +2 Int pot just to finally see this in action. Nowhere that I noticed was there an indication to tell me that the effect of activating all of those runes was temporary. I think we ended up dying close to 20 times as a group in total.
Now, I don't mind getting my ass handed to me a bit, but to have activated those runes and then basically not have them doing anything, and especially after buying something off of the store, was a real kick in the teeth. I'd like the quest a lot better if the runes:
-stayed lit permanently
-stayed lit permanently, but only reduced the alarm effects (such as by reducing the damage on the spikes or something, and reducing the number of spawns)
-stayed lit a little longer before turning off, but required a stat of 20 instead of 22

My vote for favorite quest purely on enjoyment basis is Delirium.
You can just sense the amount of hilarity that took place during and after its creation. What compliments beholders more than comedy? A quest that makes you smile always beats out a quest that makes you cringe (yeah you Coal Chamber...).
Runner ups for me would be:
Crystal Cove (fun and sometimes challenging with a sparse map, plus top notch voice-overs)
Von3 and Shadow Crypt for XP love
Bookbinder Rescue, because nothing is more enjoyable than walking Grammah through traps...
Yea thats one of my favourites.
I love quests that put player skill above stats the most, exactly like this one. The swim is the best part of the quest. Designed so that even a 0 swim 1hp sorc can do it on elite, but ultra challenging to do it without taking any hits.
I actually like the trap portion less, as it seems more random and somewhat luck based if i can do it without hits (timing on the traps is semi disjuncted, so sometimes a direct route works, othertimes it doesnt), and too easy on evasion characters even on elite.
And the hack and slash portion of the quest is pretty well balanced. (well was for non-tr.. But nearly everything is too easy for TRs)
Ditto for Titan.
You want unforgiving? Try the original titan version.
That was unforgiving - insanely fast neear undodgable massive aoe massive damage laser bolts - check
Uncontrollable titan agro - check
No mistakes allowed - check.
Completed by only a single group ever - check.
New/current version is just right. Very forgiving on normal and scales well with dfficulty (your allowed up to 4 mistakes on normal, 3 on hard, and only 2 on elite)
Only issue is theres no longer any purpose for 99% of players to run the raid, as the loot is too dated.. Thus it rarely gets run.
Can't wait for an epic version. Should be as the original version + massive stat boost + time limit, and ofcourse no mistakes allowed - 1 pillar/laser shot missed = failure.
The problem with the swim through the Crucible is that it is rather easy to wipe a whole group on a section of quest that is both difficult due to game mechanics and player skill, with little hope of recovering from even one or two player deaths. Even worse, is that it comes fairly late in the quest. I like the challenge of it on normal and hard, but even on elite I find that it kills even character with Improved Evasion, decent Reflex, okay HP and tons of CSW pots far too often.
No. That's just stupid, particularly with the rather long prequest attached to this. I've seen too many perfect position + perfect plilar drop + perfect laser strikes completely miss the Titan for no explicable reason. I've also seen the Titan go from 0-60 and across the room in the time it takes for the pillar to crush its thin support before dropping.
There is too much random chance that has absolutely zero to do with player skill, planning, gear, build or even connection to be so unforgiving. It's not making the raid any more fun, and not even really more challenging. There are better ways to make it challenging.

Crucible: It's so much fun being the most important part of the team as a rogue sometimes
Undermine: Charming creatures (and orange names) placing bombs at their feet and seeing them go boom is fun (too bad breakables damages by explosives don't count)
Blockade Buster: Who doesn't like to blow stuff up
Delerium: I like the whacky quests, and who doesn't like to say "I won a drinking competition against beholders"
I Dream of Jeats: Whacky quest, I just like the humor I guess
The Pit: "Do the Mario..."
Haywire Foundry: I like the scenery, the end run, and the traps used in general
Feast or Famine: For the trapped (empty) chest that makes 2 huge blades stick out the front if you open it
Phiarlan Carnival pack: For it's odd and varied quests
Crystal Cove: "Kobold still hate you"
My votes are about story\humor, challenge\puzzles and traps mostly
@cforce: STK gets my Epic vote, sounds interesting

Current developments and guess-timates
Developer quote tracking on DDOWiki Classes: Psion Profile Races:Kalashtar Profile, Shifter Profile, Kobold Profile
Interesting observations.
A good portion of the player base puts a premium on the EXP/min aspect of a quest in determining how much they "like the quest". The quest is merely viewed as an EXP source, with little regard to the actual content. Many of those players would be happy with a Kobold Assualt style quest for level 18's that gave 20,000 EXP and could be completed in 15 minutes without fail. All they seek is quest feedstock for EXP on their rush to 20. No sense worrying about actual quest design for those types they will simply gravitate towards the easiest and quickest EXP that can be found.
Another portion of the player base, never even mentions EXP (let alone EXP/min), when characterizing quests as loved or hated, but focus on actual gameplay and quest design. I am sure developers love those guys, since they are also the most likely to prod and poke every nook and cranny to see what might lurk beyond. Optionals are their meat and potatoes. A fun to explore quest that takes hours can be fine by them. But that type of player also abhors metagame restrictions imposed on the quest. Sudden unexplained immunities to spells for mobs, those ever present glass walls where none need exist. (Bargain of Blood (?) quest in searing heights, with all those glass walls on top of gates that prevent you from jumping down when the area you want to jump to is also in the quest zone. Just annoying.)
A large part of this dichotomy stems from two very different gaming mindsets. Those who want to experience the journey, and those who main goal is to get to the end and "win" (win in this case is to cap a character and outfit it with top end gear). I am sure the developers know they need to appeal to both camps to survive, and as players we need to acknowledge those differences in desire in quests. As long as the developers continue to craft quests of a varied nature that can appeal to enough factions of the playerbase we should be good. I am not sure any single quest would be or could be perfect for all, nor would we want them too, since meeting the goals of everyone, also probably ends up shortchanging the potential of exceeding the goals for some.
It is easier to mollify the EXP/min crowd with simple end of quest award amount tweaks. Actual quest design or changes are not needed for that. Changing gameplay or quest content is a lot harder.

Oh this needs a top 10 too many to count.
1) Frame work due to the following reasons:
- The ability to engage in genocide
- Dorris, who doesn't like brutish warforged women?
- Slay more minotaurs
Just the general humorous vibe to it all, love it.
2) Coaldesence chamber
Seriously, this is allot of fun when you get the hang of it and even more fun when you take someone new, who you know along, the frustration from falling off and getting lost is priceless, even better when they are on voice.
3) Rainbow in the dark. Yes we can have atmospheric lighting!
4) Reserved for the new update 9 quest
5) Tempest Spine. What is there not to like about this? Always a good time for some drama with fresh level 8 - 10's and people who have never done it before. Always fun if you have a spare hour and don't mind running people back up.
6) The entire VON chain. Its just nice to get out of the level 1 - 6 sewer and undead runs. Why so many sewers????
7) Shan-to-kor (however you spell it) I always remember the first time I ever did the boss on my first toon. Scared the &)#%^# out of me. Still a nice change of pace from the harbor/korthos grind.
8) I dream of jeets, although a little bit easy for the level the IQ series is fun, fast and great vendor loot. I occasionly enjoy longer chains but for my limited game time I love quick and entertaining series like this, and again, no sewers and no undead, so perfect!
9) The Shroud. Still doesn't get boring, although somewhat long the quest is broken up so it doesn't seem like a grind.
10) Giant hold Tor. Not many people run this on Orien for some reason but Dragons! Dragons in DnD! I like that!
First to reiterate what one poster said. The quests to me are what make DDO great. It's the only MMO like this and it's by far the best. Uniqueness in MMO questing is almost non-existent, except here. At least leveling to cap, I've never once grinded.
I like all quests that are easily accessible and don't take a wiki to figure out what I have to do. My time is limited and I will never have the knowledge of flagging everything properly etc. I don't play regularly enough to join a guild either. That said been on off VIP several times, will always come back if the game is here.
I don't mind puzzle or jumping quest when they are done sparingly.
I do like your story chains in general that you have been releasing since going FTP. You get a little story and they are easy to access, you guys always do enough to make the quests have something different in them.
If only we could have some random trap element to the game...
I like all the game play elements put into a quest, with a lean towards combat. There are literally dozens of quests that qualify.
Dream game: DDO marries LOTRO and has a child that is an open world with DDO style questing. That is what I believe mmo'rs are waiting for...

Thats just shortsighted.
What you think is stupid, can be tons of fun for other player. Every mode cant cater to every single player. And while the amount of players who would like something like that may be few, from what ive been hearing from friends in game, the list isnt quite so small as some might think.
I've done my 60+ titans completions (and countless failures before that) back in the day when it came out. As well as the odd one recently. After learning all the bugs and tricks, i can absolutely garuentee you with a 100% certainty that I will not ever miss a pillar/laser due to "bugs" . I might get a sub 1% failure rate due to other players missing a mark, or even myself making a mistake, but not due to bugs. In all those runs never ever had a failure I would honestly blame on lag. Every failure (past the major bugfix patch years ago) was due to player mistake or lack of knowledge on how to win.
There are bugs yes. But there are not any bugs left that a well prepared player cannot avoid.
Not allowing for mistakes makes things challenging. Perhaps not how you like a challenge, but its how I do. and others, and for the original titan? Perhaps even the devs.
So what if the preraid is long?
The penalty for failure should be severe.
Thats just a complaint from someone who wants "more easy more loot more faster"
There are modes for that, and while I can accept the fact that they are of no interest to you, they can fix that too. Titan should be level 20 on all difficulties.
I want more pain, more death, more penalties, more challenge. Bring it on rocking dead and madfloyd.
My fav's include (in order) :
1) Tear of Dakhan - Great quest set up. Optionals worth trying to complete, Fun mobs to fight, a good number of chests, and very good XP. The more you want to try and tackle in the quest the better the rewards. One of the best quests in the game for my 2cp.
2) Shroud - Great challenge, fun puzzles, great replayability with the changing mini-bosses, and it's a raid. What's not to love? Oh yeah, getting the double bone treatment in parts 4 & 5. Could be better if you could find a way to use some of the ingriedients that are not as widely used. I'd even settle for a system where you could bet/wager some of the ones you don't need to get ones you do out of the end chest. Even better would be getting a random one as a reward choice for completing would be great as well. Goodness knows I need another minor spell penetration 4 scepter of lesser sonic lore 2 again.
3) Xorian Chypher - The original P.I.T.A. quest. This one ruined many a day for me when I was learning the game. It was really REALLY challenging. It required a well balanced and expierienced party, and it was rewarding (xp/loot) to run. I've come around on this one as a great one over the years.
4) Litany of the Dead - The Abbot "pre-raid" is still the best part of the necro series. The named loot that never drops, the never appearing tome pages, and the rather ho-hum loot not withstanding. This quest is great for the different paths that you can take. The XP is decent, the fun factor is strong, and the variety of mobs is top notch. It could stand some tweaking, but it still is a great quest.
5) Assault on Summerfield - This is probably the best visual quest in the game (VON 6 excepted). The odd optionals, the pacing, the mobs, and the cool factor of fighting on a wall to hold off an invasion all give it points in my book.
There needs to be a few Honorable mentions here too. Frame Work is great, I still like Durk's Got a Secret, Chains of Flame is great but long and hard to get to, Wizard King is still fun and can be challenging depending on your party (puggers...), and Delirium for obvious reasons (drunk beholders!).
Keris-20Rogue Rahm-19Fighter Bodi-18Bard Uke Lele-20Bard Willoughby-17Rogue Ivey-20Sorc Efric-20Ranger Glaude-20FvS Hania-20Cleric Crezida-16Sorc Gespar-20Wizard Yorgo-11Barb Yurric-16Monk
The scorpion princess part. And yes, I really am thankful they don't worship undead![]()
I like Frame Work a lot. It's a versatile quest, people that want to look for optional bosses or kill a bunch of minotaurs for optional xp can, or if you want to zerg it you can just run straight to the end, kill the boss and be done. All of the Lord's March quests are pretty good, my only complaint is about the xp for Undermine, which is far too low for the length of the quest.
Litany of the Dead is one of my favorites also, even though those force traps at the end freakin kill me on elite all the time. Good xp, good (but rare) loot.
Jungle of Khyber...very good xp, good variety of mobs and scenery, tough bosses (the 3 boss fight is one of the few fights in DDO where I even bother to split them up into single pulls), lots of random optional bosses that give enough xp that it is worth taking the time to see if they are up.
A lot of what I like will depend on what character I am playing though...for instance, Ghosts of Perdition is a lot of fun if I'm playing a warforged caster, not so much when playing a fleshy melee. Some quests that are fun with one class, can be extremely annoying with another class.

Rainbow in the Dark overtook Delirium as the most popular on the current list. It's one that had a bit of hate in the other thread, but had a great deal more love over here. Just a hair over 20% of the replies included love for this particular quest. I do feel a lot of the love is due to the uniqueness, and overuse of the mechanic would lead to much more dislike than additional love.
Delirium, again, still has nothing but positive comments. The only comment that's not glowing praise is that Beholders might be a bit overused.
The next three, Pit, Partycrashers, and Crucible are all ones that cause extremely polarized opinions. There are just about equal percentages of people who love these three as ones that hate these three. Many other quests further down the list elicit the same love/hate/nothing in between opinions. While a lot of people do hate them, they're still worthwhile quests to continue creating. They're just best done as optional quests, not required ones for flagging. I'm assuming Crucible wouldn't get as much hate if it weren't a required quest to flag for Gianthold.
A number of classes DDO quests still are represented. Quests such as Stormcleave Outpost, Tear of Dhakaan, and Gwylan's Stand all got recent praise.
The Lordsmarch chain quests are incredibly popular. If you counted the individual quests together with the love for the chains as a whole, they would probably all near the top of the list. Diplomatic Impunity and Assault on Summerfield are probably the least popular of the two chains, but that's fine. They're still loved, just have less individual shout-outs.
STK jumps up in popularity to the third position in the list of full areas/chains.
Finally, there have been enough mentions of individual mechanics that are well loved. I included them on this update of the favourites list.
I miss the original Low Road.
I do not like quests that require several players to complete.
I like the quests that can have the whole party split up at the beginning while one person goes for the win the other 5 can go for optionals and boost the XP or one person can go in and do none or all of the optionals and still get the win. Tear would be my favorite quest if it wasn't for the runes requiring high stats to open.
If the runes could be opened by anyone you could split up a random pug and still get the optionals while someone goes for the boss.
After several TR's the XP/Min is very important and Tear is also FUN!
PS. I enjoy all of STK and Waterworks. I am just sad that those levels go by so fast. Wouldn't it be nice if you could adjust the level of all quests like you could adjust the level of Crystal Coves?I think I would fall in love with DDO all over again.
PPS. Crystal Coves was the best event to date in DDO.
Oh so many quests are good, which are the best? I think it depends on my mood. I tend to like to run some of the 'less popular' quests - perhaps because they tend not to get zerged. In no particular Order of rank:
The Snitch
The Pit
Crucible
Shroud (best Raid, imo)
Rainbow in the Dark
Spies in the House
Xorian Cipher
The Prison of the Mind (Von 2)
Undermine
Delirium
Prison of the Planes
I enjoy these quests, particularly, perhaps for the required patience in completing them, requisite team work, at times humor (e.g., fighting gargoyles, drinking beholders) and unique environments in each.
