    Default Game Error 122

    Hi,
I just decided to get an older Dimension 8300 up and running with a shiny new copy of windows 7 (32 bit) and thought "what the heck, I'll try to get DDO running on it so I can have friends over to play"...
Well, long story short, I am having graphics problems, which is odd because I was able to play this game (albeit, very choppy) when I had it running on Ubuntu a few months earlier.

I realize there are older posts on this error 122 message, but all of them seemed too outdated to give me any concrete help.

Here are the specs I can find (not too tech-savvy):

    1TB hard drive
    512 RAM
    Pentium 4 Processor

    Graphics:
It says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
and a bit futher beneath, 128 MB

I'm pretty sure there should be a dedicated graphics card in there since I was able to play on this computer through ubuntu. I think it's an NVIDIA but as far as how good it is, I'd assume it'd be about as weak as this game could be played on.

Does anybody have any initial ideas for what I could do either to try to fix it or gather more info so that I can get some help? Thanks

I realize I am supposed to post dxdiag data and that will be posted shortly

I'm pretty sure your hardware isn't able to support Windows 7. That's your problem right there.

I would highly recommend using Windows XP on this, and see if you're able to get a cheap deal on more RAM.

My guess is that your nVidia card is a GeForce FX 5200. You might be able to get a cheap deal on a slightly better graphics card. Just make sure your power supply has enough wattage to power anything new you put in.

Alright that's kind of what I was suspecting. Seems weird to me that I can run windows 7 with no problems, but since I'm a computer student I can get free OS..I'll switch to xp and try that out. Thanks

    Default Windows 7

There is no need to dump Win7 and use an outdated unsupported OS like XP. Windows 7 have a compatability tool that immulates XP for older programs so if you feel the need to use XP just have Windows 7 do it for you. If you need help look under troubleshooting in windows help and it will walk you through it.

Well I have an old PC here running win98 and another one still running Win3.1 under MSDOS 6.

(Although I admit I use the Win31 PC rarely these days...)

    Hi Marinefan,

Several forums assert the Dell Dimension 8300 is Win7 compatible and run it themselves:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...0-de7ab661f7cb

    http://forums.techarena.in/portable-devices/1381354.htm

The ID from your dxdiag indicates an FX5200 as Dulcimerist states.

You are currently using version 163.85 drivers

175.16 were the last produced by Nvidia for your card for XP:
    http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp...6_whql_uk.html

So if Start>Control panel>windows update>Optional doesn't have any drivers for this card under Win7 you will be out of luck in updating the drivers

(windows drivers due to the vendor no longer supporting this AGP card and linux drivers have been written by opensource folks)

For the error 122 Turbine's advice is to:

Click the first button in the row in the upper-right corner of the launcher (the one with the single down-arrow on it) and choose "Options" from the menu

In "Options" under the "Repair" tab, click to activate the "Reset game display settings" option, click "Ok" and continue logging into the game choosing "Yes" when asked if you want to reset the settings.
