Default ROGUE/WIZARD what lvl do you take the 2nd lvl rogue?

Hi all, I'm kind of new in this game, just been playing for few monthes and none of my pc get over lvl 10 before I remake them. The newest pc I made is a WF rogue/wizard 1/3. His role in the party mainly for buff/trap and minor heal, just to help up my private party group (WF monk x2). I keep my search and dd max, and as now my pc haven't encounter any major issue. But sooner or later I know the trap DC will be much difficult and I will also like to put more rank into spot and UMI.

Any input will be helpful, thanks in advance.

    Generally consensus is level 9ish
Axebiter, Cujo, Runeforge, Runefury, Runegoth, Runehealer, Runehamer, Runehorde, Runenight, Runesongs, Runezephyr
And the forgotten: Runeaura, Runedevourer, Herstinkie, Runewolf,
Caught somewhere between casual player and power gamer.

yeah, basically once you get wall of fire (next patch, the spell of choice may change a bit, but even the potential replacement spells are all level 4, so same basic situation).

I forget the level (and to lazy to look it up ) but it was after I got the spell firewall, and about the same time that I took the feat insightful reflexes.

Taking it before firewall, just makes the leveling harder imo, and getting evasion before insightful reflexes is a waste.

are you a WF? definately after firewall, but if WF you may want to wait until you get reconstuct as well.

That's a great point, I'll value that input. Thanks.

I always wait until I can use all the tasty skill points without any being "wasted".

Exactly. The longer the better usually though it's really hard to pass up Evasion + Insightful Reflexes the moment you have Wall of Fire which would mean level 9. Those that wait probably get a bit more of a bang for their buck when it comes to skills though, especially since your number of skill points WILL go up as you go (you'll raise your base int score as your level-ups will go there, tomes in there will be a priority, etc).

Fleshy non-Pale Master - take Rogue 2 after obtaining firewall
WF - take after firewall, maybe after Reconstruct (I think using Recon scrolls for an extra level with Evasion > using Recon for a level without Evasion)
Pale Master - take after acquiring the second tier of shrouds (Wraith or Vampire)

You can also take it at lvl 20 (which I did) if you play your character out of harm way and are a pale master

Can be useful at lvl 9 or 14, but it greatly depends on your playstyle, if your always first and reckless, get insightful and evasion fast :P

If you stay behind and protected by big muscle, I suggest lvl 20 for having more firepower as you lvl. For my part, I am reckless and always first and soloed a lot of content without evasion (PM aura help a lot though)

    This.

Though I just leveled my wizard to level 20'mostly solo pure class without toughness, insightful or evasion. Im very zergy, out in front and in harms way i guess I'm just handy at moving around a bit.

I'd say after you get reconstruct, PMII/III or level 20.

Take it after firewall or reconstruct per your preference. (I do after firewall)

Also of note you want to make sure that when you take it you
have plenty of room to “flesh out” the thief skills so that you
    spend your skill points efficiently.

(spend as few skill points cross-class as possible)

Default What are you guys talking about???

You guys are CRAZY. I didn't take my second lvl of rogue until lvl 20.

I like my arcane goodies more than the silly evasion stuff. Higher DC/ moar spells/ moar sp/ earlier PrE/spells >>> evasion imo. You already get trap skills and umd from the splash, so I like to look at evasion as my "capstone" while the pures get the +2 int, etc.. In my experience, being a lvl behind hurt your caster experience quite a bit, and evasion doesn't become a true "necessity", my any measure, until end game content anyway.

That being said, my gf is an evasion addict, so she gets it around lvl 9-12 on all her chars. If you aren't hooked tho, I'd advise putting it off as late as possible (ie lvl 20). YYMV I suppose.

I waited until 11. This was to get a bit more effect from the extra skill points.

I have found that I prefer to take IR at level 1, as it's very helpful even without evasion. Lots of lightning bolts and fireballs in the low-level elites.

You might want to reconsider the wizard capstone, and leave off rogue levels altogether. At least for the higher DC/ moar spells/ moar sp (not to mention moar spell pen)

Not to my taste, of course - I love all the perks that a little rogue brings to the bed. I mean, build

Dunno. I enjoy having evasion on my capped wiz/rogue, and appreciate the tradeoffs compared to my capped pure. What I'm sayin is rogue brings more to the table than only evasion, and I didn't really *need* evasion until >15 questing. That's maybe more of a question of player style/preference though.

you take the 2nd rogue when you take the insightful reflex feat IMHO.

Thus you gain the Evasion advantage, but not before FW

Whenever you start having trouble mitigating damage from Spells and after insightful reflexes of course. Usually when I walk into GH I pick up evasion lvl 12-14.
