Why do people ask for ship invite for Shroud????

We have the exact opposite rule.
It is policy that none are allowed on our airship save for guildmates and members of allied guilds.
That stops all the drama before it starts.

what drama would that be exactly? I've never had an issue providing an airship invite for anyone.

Drama? What, with people stealing the training dummy? We don't usually have any problems with that. Most non-guildies who do this (there aren't many) respond well to a tell. Even then it never really matters very much as there is almost always several toons on deck to help beat it down/casters tossing rage and haste. Mind you our guild does go out of its way to be helpful and friendly, even to non-guildies.

I could be mistaken, has your guild had bad experiences with this or something related?

LFMs requesting an invite.
Random /tells during quests from people you don't even know.
Insults, belittlement, and swearing when the request is declined because you're busy doing a quest.
All of these things happen. All of these things are a pain in the @$$ and are completely uncalled for.

Before they changed it so that you could invite from anywhere, you had to be on the ship before an invite could be offered.
I once recieved a /tell asking to use the ship while I was in a Shroud from someone I'd never met.
When I told them that I would not drop group to offer them an invite, I was told to Go F Myself.
We nip this type of drama in the bud before it's a problem.

Ahh, I see what you mean. Spamming is inappropriate all around as is inappropriate use of the LFMs.

There are a few toons who will send me a tell out of the blue for invites, I'll invite them if there is room in the party or I'm not busy at the moment, but its usually someone I've partied with. I've never had anyone get foul mouthed or insulting though.

Our guild has always had an open door policy and I've never heard of any real problems with spam or anything. Mind you, I suspect the majority of the population on Orien is a little older.

There's also the wonderful person that joins your group, asks for an invite, and then just uses the crafting altars and drops group.
