Yes your dps will drop. since ranged is a lower dps then melee. However you will have a great burst dps with manyshot and the aa enhancements.

Now, after this tread I am really in doubt. Do I go Mentau now and build another toon using this AA ideas or do I go AA Monk?

My first life was of a Dark Drow Monk, Wis based. Really nice to play, high survivability, but low DPS. In this one, with a Godhand like build, my DPS shines, but I need a healboot right besides me in order to keep me up. I am really enjoing this high DPS. If I go Mentau, I know my DPS will be very similar. I am afraid if I go AA my DPS drops more than I expect (I have zero experience with AA, so I really cant tell if this will hapen).

Fortunately I have plenty of time to dicide, since I dont plan to TR my guy so soon. Still have a lot of farming to do (TOD rings and Shroud Ingredients Specially).
If you only use a bow when Manyshot is available, your DPS won't go down much at all (may even go up), but playing a monk/archer hybrid is NOT min/max build... It's just something very different, but very fun...

I like soloing as an AA... In a group, I stick with monk attacks mostly, and only pull out the bow for manyshot. It's not a power build, but it's definitely viable, and pretty fun.

    Thanks galei and Trudh!

I am really more interested in playing something fin rather than some max toon that is not fun. I dont worry getting a lower DPS, but I do worry to get a low DPS toon that main objetive is to do damage. It is nice to hear from someone that is actually playing something cery similar. Though my experience is low with AA, I am aware that ranged DPS is lower than melee, so my worries rests in the damage rhis guy would do in melee attacks.

As I said, I am going to stay at cap for a while, so I can think more about it.

Thanks again! Really appreciate your feedback, and really liking this tread.

I decided to get back at playing with my ranger/rogue (just one lvl of the last) again, just to see how it would work as an AA (changed from tempest to AA at 11th lvl). Got 12th lvl yesterday. Improved precise shot + paralyzing is awesome! Just woundering what would I do with some really nice GS. This is fun! Imagine with the monk background to kick some when in melee...

Nice to hear that, specially now that I am woundering wich GS bow to build first.

Usually see some litII in foruns, but didnt find a good reference yet. You think a earthgraber is better than a litII? If so, how should it be (acid/acid burst/acid blast)?

I've heard there are going to be changes in erthgrabing in U9, but I am not sure of that...

Not sure about the changes in U9,Earthgrab is totaly Acidway Bow.When u use Acid Arrows in AA Line, forgot the other higher Arrows use Acid till u get Slaying.Only what i wanna test is the Forceburst Arrow if it have the same Area Effect like the Spell would be a Intresting Option, but i think that would be a totaly Agro Arrow^^

My next Bow will be a LitII Bow.

My only concern with the build is the to hit with bows given so much emphasis on upping strength. Anyone have experience with that or know the numbers off hand? Since each additional arrow on manydhot incurs a to hit penalty I wonder if the fourth arrow on a low de build will ever hit.

Really good question. Don't know if it will be an issue. I really have no cap experience with AA. But I have a ranger AA at 15th, with whom I only invested in STR so far. Don't have htting problems with him, but I know it could be an issue at cap.

    Default Its Finally Done!

So, I built a character a couple of days ago. I am following the build I posted in this thread. At 7th lvl so far. I am really enjoying this guy. Since I have no AA prestige enhancement so far, I almost always fight unarmed. My melee DPS is surprizing me, didn't thought it would be that cool (yeah I know that almost all characters are that good in low lvls ). My ranged DPS is just ok, but I didn't expect it to be better in low lvls. Hope I can get to 9th lvl soon, so I can try AA stuff.

I am using mainly a +1 Icy burst Handwraps of Bleed on living beings and Eternal Rest (from Catacombs) on undead. Have Also got the Pilar of Light to hit that anoying ghostly skulls in Deleras Tomb. In ranged attacks I am using mainly that amazing Silver Bow (don't know where it drops). I also carry a Flaming Longbow (that I got as my Veteran Status weapon) and Serpentbranch (Deleras Tmb endreaward, that I only use when I want poison immunity).

Also using Pathfinders set, Helm/Cloak/Bracers from Chrono set and the Bold Trincket from the last festival (really amazing item with such a low ML ).

If anyone is interested in playing toghether, I am at Argonessen. Name is Anras.
