    Default The Entertainer

Running around House Phiarlan the other day I got this idea for a character build.
I tried to get it as close to a street entertainer as possible, while still making it usable in game.
My obvious class choices are Rogue and Bard, because what entertains more than a lute playing pole dancer?
I do not know if a similar build exists already.

The build is made to do traps as well as fight and contribute to the party through songs.

The sweet, sweet detail: Believe it or not, but you will be able to throw your own grease around while being immune to its effects. So whatever you want to fight that golem lying on its back or you feel like ruining the day of your party members while running Coalessence Chamber you got the option to do so.

Halfling build Adds more flavor to the build. For roleplaying purpose and for build enjoyment this is the way to go.

    Skills
Balance: Well, noone wants the entertainer to sit on his behind when he should be dancing for you.
Bluff: Gives some flavor and with the U9 changes it will help a lot to make that devil believe that the cleric is doing the most damage.
Disable Device: I figured that for once a rogue should be able to do traps.
Haggle: "My performance was certainly worth more than those two silver pieces."
    Jump: Not maxed but enough.
    Open Lock: Treasure!
Perform: To fascinate when things really look bad.
Search: "Where did I put it?..."
Spot: "I believe theres a wall in front of us."
Tumble: Enough to make it useful with the right buffs. Had better use for the rest of the points.
UMD: The #1 skill in the game.

As for spells I didn't take any offensive (but grease of course) because getting a proper DC would require some sacrifices. I chose the spells in the reverse order while making the character so the order isn't perfect.

I haven't played the build yet and probably won't right away, but eventually I will and I look forward to do so.

Please leave your thoughts and comments.

I know it's a tough call but you might wanna go to bard 8 as that gets better songs vs another rogue feat for rogue 13. Also, I think personally you should max perform so you can use your fascinate at high levels. It's not hard to get a good DC if you level perform all the way. Maybe drop spot a bit.

Mental toughness is a waste... Maybe pick up extend or empower healing?

Yea with the proper gear there wont be a need for mental toughness.
The thing with fascinate is at level 7 bard i have 9 songs with enhancements (10 with lvl 8 bard) which gives limited use of fascinate as some songs will be used for buffs. So I chose not to go all the way with it. Could drop the tumble to 1 again though and spend those points in perform, which would give 17 perform.

Maybe drop cha to 12 and raise int (or get a +2 int tome) so you can have both. Tumble seems like an important flavor skill.

Updated with more Int and extend rather than mental toughness. Gave and additional level of bard.
More perform and more tumble now for better flavor and the option to fascinate.

I actually like the concept a lot so I made up a halfling 28 pt variation (Obviously if you have more points put em into strength. Maybe less int too, but I like my skills). Remember, dex gives acrobats bonus damage to sneak attacks.

    I absolutely love the concept.

DPS is a valid form of damage mitigation. Piking is not.

History will not tell of what we had, only what we did.

@Kourier: Thought about going halfling too as the size is easier to relate to acrobatics. Also it gives better saves, however I do believe that extra feat from human that ends up as giving GTHF will be quite useful.
But for the flavor I'd definately go for halfling too. (Though if gnome would be available their tricky nature would qualify the best.)

Once I made a (fun) build which I called "the Didgeridoo Master" which was similar in concept, but it also had 6 fighter levels for kensai (quarterstaff)

It was rogue 6 (acrobat I), bard 8 (warchanter I) and fighter 6 (kensai I).

Did you play it to 20? And if so how was it working out for you?

Thought of adding kensai or at least 1-2 fighter levels too, but for the sake of the concept I didn't. Could always be an option though.

No, sorry, never got the time to twenty him, even if sometimes I play with that character trying to lvl him up.

    Just for fun:
Only important skill is Perform - too good for trapsmithing or anything else
No extend, but won't buff anyways

I must admit that I thought of Half-Orc for a second when i made the build. The additional Action Boosts and the damage enhancements are really lovely and would make quite a difference in combat. Fitting the barbarian levels is something I didn't think of though, but I like it.

As you didn't show your skills I assume you maxed perform and put the other points into multiple skills except for trapping.

Oh, and I like the name
