Default Best options for Dragontouched Docent?

I just finished Stealer of Souls today (solo, on Casual) and got my Dragontouched Docent. Sor'jek gave me a Sovereign Rune (apparently not guaranteed on Casual, but it was useless for me so I broke it down), and I'd like to know what I should be aiming for. I'm a Wizard 15/Rogue 2 (aiming for the usual 18/2), Evocation/Conjuration Archmage, mainly solo with a hireling. I'm thinking the Tempest ought to be Exceptional Int, but I'm not sure about the Eldritch and Sovereign.

I'll need to get another Sovereign - which is more economical out of Stealer on Casual with non-guaranteed Sovereign (if no Sovereign, do you get a Tempest or just nothing?) and running Prey repeatedly to combine Tempests?

The extra spell point runes are nice, check those out. Depends very much on your play style.
I run prey until I get bored, scored some nice runes from crushing those and I have 3 sets or DT armor depending on my requirements for the quest/group I am about to head into.
Never waste a good rune, DT armor is cheap to make.
If you ever TR, it is nice to have an armor ready to go.

Repeating Prey on the Hunter is more efficient than waiting to repeat Stealer of Souls, if you are trying to get a specific rune. Just combine the Tempest runes into a Sovereign, and then crunch the ones you dont want to keep making new runes.
You can get exceptional stats from other sources, like Green Steel or Tower of Despair, and I think some epic items. Same with your +6 stat.

I went with Resistance (+5), Healing Amplification (20), and Glacial Assault. The only thing I would want to change at all is probably Glacial Assault to Potency to free some slots.

For a caster, the ones you should keep an eye out for are Glacial Assault and Spell Pen. The spell pen one gives greater spell pen 8, and the glacial assault is 1/3 of the full set (+50% damage to all level 8 and below ice spells if you have all 3 parts).

On the subject of running Prey, are there any tricks to keeping the dragon alive solo? Web's my current main plan for giant-handling, but I'm open to suggestions.

Web works well, especially if you hit them with Waves of Exhaustion after being webbed. Enervate and flesh-to-stone works very well. Both together (throw webs, use enervate/FtS on the stragglers) work on everything except the boss. For him I suggest grabbing his aggro with Scorching Ray, and pulling him away to cook in a wall of fire while the dragon is beating on statues.

Thanks - I did something very like this last night and succeeded. I didn't try Flesh to Stone, but threw webs all over the place (I have it as an SLA so Heightened Web costs 3, I can be pretty free with them). That kept the giants busy enough that I could Scorching Ray the boss repeatedly.

I didn't try fighting the dragon as well - even on Casual, I figured that was asking for trouble! (Although again, I'm open to advice in that regard.)

The hardest part about the dragons, especially if you're soloing, is having enough SP left to cast Wall of Fire over and over and over and over and over and over again.
