Default Flesh to Stone or Disintegrate?

My WF sorcerer is about to gain his third and last 6th level spell slot. I would ideally pick up disintegrate and flesh to stone, but am only able to choose one. Which is the better option? And for those "in the know" about Update 9, would your answer change if I max out my force enhancements and/or go earth savant?

Circle of death -- not because it is a great spell now, but because of the improvement it will see in the update.

Then I would say Flesh to Stone, and if you were going Earth Savant I would say the same, doubly so.

Disintigrate is a wonderful spell for critters that aren't subject to (or are highly resistant to) elemental damage. I really enjoy Disintigrate while leveling.

If you aren't interested in swapping later, then Flesh to Stone is very nice. If you are okay with swapping in a couple of levels, then I'd start with Disintigrate for fun in the Orchard.

It should be worth noting that disintegrate isn't the essential spell it used, with cyclonic blast as an alternate untyped and now with elemental immunity being removed from some creatures like golems, its not an absolute must have. That isn't too say that it isn't an awesome spell, with untyped having enhancement line boosts, its more powerful than ever.

Personally I went with disintegrate, though that's partly because I'm going fire savant (which is ineffective against most important bosses). At the moment it hits for 700 damage non crit (assuming target fails its fort save), and with the new untyped line it will hit for even more. I don't really see all that much appeal in flesh to stone. Otto's irresistible dance fulfills a similar role, has no save, and the autocrit component of flesh to stone is going away.

I suppose it comes down to what role disintegrate would play in your spell kit, and how often you expect to encounter enemies against which you'll use it. Since I'll be farming epic wiz king quite a bit, disintegrate plays an important role in mine and I'll be using it often (note that acid actually heals the golems in there).

The problem with not taking disintegrate and going earth savant is that cyclonic blast will only be caster level 11 for you. What untyped damage spell are you going to replace disintegrate with?

Some posters have made the point that an untyped damage spell isn't as necessary in U9, I'm not certain about all the changes but I imagine it will still be important to have one.
