    Lightbulb masters touch clickie

Well i was thinking about stuff like a normally do, then i started thinking about some spells, notably masters touch. then i remembered someone complaining about not being able to scroll masters touch on a two handed weapon anymore after the change to the spell. so i thought of ways to get around that and the best thing i could think of was a clickie. but that would mean that anyone would be able to use any non exotic weapon in the game. so you would just need to add a UMD check to it so that only people who could already UMD a scroll could use it.

So here's an idea. how about we have a named item added to the game that is a masters touch clickie, but make it RR kobold or something so that it can still only be used by the people who have UMD just like with scrolls. but people who could UMD a scroll and use a two handed weapon before the change to the spell would be able to use their great axe or whatever again.

    yes? no? maybe?

Or just add it as raid loot at some point. Maybe ML:13 or 14 or so like the VoD/HoX items, so they're useful for TR'ing.

well it would probably just be a clickie of a level 1 spell and it would have a UMD check. the the ML should be ferry low if there is one at all.

or, you could just make it class-restricted, just like the summon monster wand from carnival.

Or they could just make everyone proficient with all weapons..

    (being sarcastic)

There's a reason such an insanely powerful item doesn't exist. It would essentially mean +4 to attack for all weapons for those who otherwise were proficient in martial weapons and couldnt cast masters touch (tons of players).

I could get it, if it was made ultra rare.. But turbine doesnt make ultra rare loot anymore. Against policy or something.

you can already do exactly that for a one handed weapon. It's called using a scroll with UMD. you can't do it that way if you want to use it on a two handed weapon due to a flaw in the way the spell was changed.

It's a level 1 spell, that can be bought on a scroll, that people were already using. I would hardly call it "insanely powerful".

    There's the rub.

You can't reach useful DPS on a 1-h weapon unless you invest in TWF feats. So it's not that great a boost.

Getting free proficiency in any 2H weapon would be huge for example in pure clerics who have very few combat feats to spare.
