Default The end of the khopesh?

I've just seen a crit resisted on a roll of 47. Anyone seen any higher failed rolls?

What were you hitting? They could have just had fortification after all.

undead are all inherently immune to crits - burst weapons & effects that are "on crit" will still fire off (they're dependent on a critical ROLL not being vulnerable to critical damage) but they wont take the extra physical damage.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Some of the undead in Crystal Cove were critable, but otherwise, yeah.

Just a note, undead aren't *immune* to crits per se, they just have 100% fort, which can AFAIK be lowered by fort-lowering attacks. Could be wrong tho.

Is it different in DDO? Because in 3.5 they are immune to critical hits, as are constructs, oozes and plants. I keep hearing people say that they gave these types of creatures 100% Fort instead of making them immune.

When Opportunist came out, a developer (think it was Eladrin, but I'm not sure) said that some critters have 100% fort while some critters are just flat out immune to critical hit damage multiplication (and sneak attacks). The 100% fort critters can have their fortification lowered, but the just-plain-immune can't have their fort lowered.

This was pretty much just because when those creatures were being made, no one had fortification lowering effects or had thought of them at the time and those fort-immune critters should be changed to 100% fort "soon".

On my rogue with the Opportunist feat i've often seen crits (multiplied weapon base damage) on undeads and constructs, so they seem to have 100% fort instead of immunity.

Good news. When I had read that they would be changing crit-immune to 100% fort "soon", I was hoping that it would be actual soon and not shortly-after-Druids soon.

Yup, seen the same thing with touch of despair. Throw it on the training dummy and it lasts even after you kill it. The next person to swing at it will be quite surprised

i think after the dummy has been killed once all subsequent attacks become crits for a while (presumably "helpless" in u9?) even without fort-reducing abilities.. have noticed it while beating down with group members in prep for other quests.. 1st time round crits etc. roll as normal, 2nd time round every burst effect on my wraps is going off on every hit.

I enjoyed the undead that were healed by a monk's light attack.

That is correct, all your burst effects go off, but you don't get your physical weapon damage multiplied on those crits, because it still has 100% fort.

I have seen undead crits after hitting them with some monk abilities that reduce fort.

I thought this was going to be another one of **those** khopesh threads, heh.
