Default Can our ship buffs pause in public please?

Most other things pause while in public, hireling contracts, elixirs, etc.

Can our Guild Ship buffs also be set to pause while in public areas please?

Um... how is that an argument against having them pause in public like everything else?

So your vote is to waste more time in between quests?
How does that benefit the game?
How would the OP's idea wreck DDO?

I don't think this is a valid argument against it since it mainly deals with eliminating the hassle of waiting for people to get their buffs. It's not a matter of builds or laziness. It's a matter of an annoyance to wait for 5-10 extra minutes while everyone buffs/refresh buffs.

Another option is to make them last 3 hours (or death, whichever comes first).

This woudl be a HUGE improvement in game play. Right now people often wait around until a party is full, then go buff. I think its rude, but people do it to maximize the buff. If the buff paused they could buff up and be at the door with full buffs when the quest started.

And while we are at it, P buffs should get the same pause.

Hardly gamebreaking. Especially since I'm pretty certain no one runs out of a 1hr buff between the ship and a vendor.

yep, and it should be pointed out that the pause would help new players/characters the most as they are the ones with the turtle run speed.

I skip ship buffs most of the time because I don't want to make the group wait for me, then when the group is ready to go someone takes off to get their buffs...

There's a fine line between convenience and "easy button". In this case, it is purely for convenience.

Logically, there isn't any reasons not to make ship/house buffs pause in public areas. The code is all there from xp pots/hirelings.

From a business point of view, some XP pots and hirelings can be purchased using TP, so they implemented pausing the timer during "down-time" i.e. idling around public areas. Technically, some Amenities can also be purchased using TP, so more the reason to add pausing the timer in public areas.

From a balance point of view, the player would already have dedicated a portion of their gaming time grinding renown/favour for the ship buffs/house buffs. In a way, they have already earned the right to use said buffs. Thus spending time running around refreshing the buffs ends up merely being another mindless, repetitive chore.

In terms of the plat sinks, the player would have paid for a contract good for a certain number of days. It makes no difference how frequently the player chooses to utilise the Amenities in that timespan.

Some arguments against this would include:
    -Don't use them then.
This is rather pointless argument. For example, if you are given a mansion to live in plus one million dollars for expenses, then have it taken away from you, can you really live on without being hang up on what you could have done with such resources?

-Back in my days, we had to walk 3 hours(real-life time) to reach anywhere, buffs only lasted 30 seconds!! etc.
Times change. These days, it's all about saving time and efficiency. People are realising how short life is and trying to make the most of it.

-Why play the game if you are so **** about it?
Again, this brings us back to the convenience vs "easy button" argument. We can argue all day about it (and we do) but at the end of the day, what is there to lose? The changes have already been applied to XP pots/hirelings, and that was hardly game-breaking.

This isn't something that is NEEDED. But it sure as hell makes life a lot easier if it was implemented.

    ZOMG EASY BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111ONEONEELEVEN

NO MOAR EASY BUTTONS! GAME TOO EASY ALREADY!

I BET YOU'LL BE ASKING FOR TELEPORTERS TO PLACES YOU FREQUENT, TOO? OMG, WHY DON'T THEY JUST PLAY THE GAME FOR YOU, LIKE SRSLY.

To be honest, though, they should be permanent*. House buffs should also be permanent* or stackable, too.

*Not necessarily always on. They should only be active if your guild's ship still contains that shrine (if you're in the guild you got buffs from) or until you leave your party or the shrine expires (if you're not in the guild you got the buffs from). They refresh after every quest (or every trip back to Stormreach, to keep it completely consistent with how the buffs are now). House buffs should have the ability to be "bought-out" for large amounts of plat to have the same function as guild buffs, or simply allow stacking duration on the buffs.

They should be paused in public areas. There's no reason against it.

Also, they should be extended. 1 hour is just not enough for some quests, when doing them for the first time. I never use walkthroughs for quests, and play in a static group (5 rl friends), and some of the longer quests/raids just last longer than 1 hour if you go in not knowing anything about it. Could also make them permanent until death/log out. Don't see why not, it just removes the hassle of walking to and from the ship.

    That's a good point.

Why do they expire after 1 hour to begin with?

This won't help in quests (i.e. this is not some easy button), but it will save your real time.

And it will stop those who want to start quest as soon as possible, because their buffs time is ticking.

Could we have a clicky "God modus on"/"God modus off"?
That would save me a lot of time, I have to click so many things, drink potions and so.

*and can we please run a bit faster in public areas?

Making the buff permanent is going too far though.
I think, and flame me all you want, that other peoples ships should not be able to buff you, only transport.
Reason: To make being in a guild, the ships and its buffs mean something more. Someone has worked hard to get a level 70 ship, and then I come along and sponge off of them.
This would also make the game harder, more tactical, and I think it would make guilds stronger and tighter as a group.
If people are worried about an 'EASY' button, then this is what you should be writing about.
Being able to buy out the ships buff giver instead of renting is a good idea. As long as it costs a lot so people have to think before they click.

My demands are simple. Ducks, penguins and tortoises as pets. I'll buy hats and bow-ties for them all.
