    Default Looking back at.......

Just a little thinking back to PnP days of making a "bard". If I recall correctly you started as a fighter for a few levels, then thief (rogue now) and ended with magic-user(no specific wiz/sorc class at that time). It was a long hard build up to make a bard back then and usually most people didn't even think of making one.

Got one to bard lvl 2 before military service moves ended my playing of game. Stopped mainly due to not enough people to make a good game of it..

Ah, the days of " I smite the kobold with my +2 mace/ roll d20 get a 1- **** missed!"
"kobold bites at your ankle roll d20- gets 18- does 7 points damage and you fall"

Yes those were the days we all ( okay maybe just me) remember with mixed fndness/disgust but hey it's just a game right?

I once had a wizard with 1 hit point. That was a brutal level... I hid most of the time.
Our DM also was strict with fumbles, and one of our members killed themselves by rolling a 1, then 20, then the max damage. Was funny since it wasn't me.

I do remember the only way to get a bard though, never had anyone in our group get that far though.
