    Default Launcher error

I got the following message when I tried to run DDO. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and still get it. I did have a virus that I got rid of by deleting some files (as directed by someone online who knew how to get rid of it). This is the error:

    An error has occurred.

Do you remember which virus it was, and which files you deleted in order to cure it?

It's just a hunch, but I wonder if you need to reinstall/repair the Microsoft .NET Framework:

If I remember correctly, DDO uses this a little bit for something, and that likely could've been some of the stuff you had to delete.

Thanks for your response. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I also reinstalled the NET software.

The virus was CleanThis. YOu can read about it here:
    http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/20...all-guide.html

The files I removed were gog.exe, the "shell" entry in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

and some files in C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Windows7 related to the program such as completescan, install and start.

hey rknetsch, i had the same error come up on mine for a different virus(windows repair). It likes to mark folders hidden,so the launcher wont load cause of it.I had to go thru and unhide all the folders in the areas it said the errors were in.It worked for me i hope it works for you.good luck

Kudos to Spikezilla! This is exactly what happened. I actually figured it out pretty well at the same time that he (she?) was providing the answer, as I noticed my user files were hidden.

    Man, I hate viruses.

    Thanks!
