    Default Buying Ingredients

So now that we know that you can purchase ingredients with real money via turbine points.

Will there be a way to buy ingredients in game with plat, such as an ingredient vendor in the crafting area, so that those of us with lots of plat but not a lot of real world cash, can craft easily?

The one thing I don't like, which is probably the whole reasoning that Turbine has implemented this program, is that stuff is available via the Turbine Store without ever having had to quest for the items for the new crafting.

I just spent 2500 lama tp and leveled up all crafting skills to 30. When deconstructing items the amount of ingredients is just sad.

With TP you can get way more ingredients to level up with. This is kinda scary but as a business I guess Turbine sees this as the best way to go.

Since I am a founder and have had years to build up a nice collection of raid gear and some of the better random generated loot, I do understand that no one who has only played for a year can even come close to equaling what I have on multiple characters.

The true concern is that you have 2 players both just starting out and one a dedicated player trying to grind out his stuff but on a set income and the other sorta the same way but with a huge amount of disposable income. They both play the same amount but because the one has the money he is going to have the better stuff.

Sigh, I thought I come into a game to escape the pains of reality. Lol guess I am just going to have to deal with the fact that my escape is tainted by real world greed and power.

I hope that is it, really, but knowing Turbine's recent propensity for slanting content towards the Turbine Store for "assistance" I am not too sure they won't make it live.

Default They have to make $ somehow

I don't see the issue. I for one will not be able to buy TP for grinding but I am glad that it is there and has restrictions. I want a game that is financially healthy and the ingredients you can buy are bound, so any item you make with them will also be bound. Yes, it will help someone level and in that way I see them as no more than an extension to the experience boosts.

I am afraid I fail to see your point.

Under the current model, the player with more money can pay for p2p contents straight away.
The player who chooses to go f2p has to grind for favour, and unlock contents slowly, reward by reward.

Under the previous model, the player with more money could play.
The one who wouldn't or couldn't, could not play at all.

    ...

From what I could see, this crafting system felt more like a time sink than a plat or TP sink.

if this was purely for lamannia, why was the trinket there even before the hall opened at 150, then reduced to 5 once it opened, but the other materials which where available before the hall opened are still at the old prices?

if it was truly intended as a get it cheap and test it would be negligible cost, considering the volume of mats needed.
(some recipe levels start being almost exclusively 1000,2000, 4000 plus of one of the mat types for one attempt!)
25 tp and 50 tp stacks of two differing sizes. sounds more like what those counts look like. testbed numbers. and some will go down and others up. otherwise we'd have seen high prices on mats for a short while to force deconstruction testing, then 1 tp stacks for further testing of shard creation and leveling.

as to the pay vs free aspect. begin full on complaints when you finally see recipes requiring the pack specific materials. so far everything i've seen in creation of shards can be found anywhere, and consist only of the general materials. after all having to buy all the low play count content to work through some crafting levels or make specific things are still possibilities.

think it'll be a pain, somewhat horked up, but something we just live with. afterall, a couple hundred dollars worth of tp for mats, and a few hundred more for packs one might otherwise avoid(if they don't already have them) is bad but not murderous as it stands. and when some unforeseen holy combination of crafts that fits the system becomes the "new big thing" inevitably it will have its existence or abilities fed to a woodchipper, and they'll hand us back whats left, so balance returns.

I'm one that agrees with that.

the player not able to craft will most likely be better off, the time it takes to level up crafting skills is slow when trying to craft items equivalent to level and what one can get from quest. If both play the same amount online the non-craftsman will be much higher level and possibly better gear, were the craftsman will be lower level, and looking for new friends to party up with every time they feel the need to pause to craft appropriate level gear .

hey, if someone feels they can afford to buy their crafting skills, then I think that's great, I'm sure not everyone feels the same as I tho, but from my previewing of the crafting system so far shows, they best have a very fat wallet
