Default What content actually needs a tank?

    Hi,
I recently rerolled on a different server (Sarlona) because a few friends of mine said they needed a tank. Now having been
leveling a tank, I've yet to see any content that needed me to active tank anything.

Having said that, I need to mention I'm only lvl8 and things will prolly change soon.

Tanking is a skill that can be used situationally. You'll see more and more opportunities to tank at higher levels but from level 12 I'd say that opportunities will start to arise.

It's situational and will depend on the group that you are running with, resources that you have available and the content that you are attempting. For example, some quests in gianthold are very easy but if you do the same ones on elite at level it might be useful in certain fights to change to tank mode and grab aggro to protect your teammates. However, it's not until level 18+ that tanking will really start to shine. Amrath and End Game Raids will see many opportunities to tank, that is the time to try it out

There's five encounters that come to mind that are extremely difficult to beat without a tank:

Horoth, Tower of Despair (all difficulties)
    Turigulon, Epic Devil Assault
Demon of the Frenzied Deep (Epic, or at-level elite)
Suulomades (Vision of Destruction and also Tower of Despair, all difficulties)
Cojoined Abashai Devastator (Chronoscope, epic and probably also at lower difficulties on elite).

Those five are the only bosses in the game that I would not want to try to heal a low-hp, minimal defenses character (such as the max-DPS halfling pure strength rogues) through the full aggro of.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Agreed. In general on a tank you'll want both a DPS and a tank mode. Your DPS mode could be as simple as having power attack turned on and a good DPS THF weapon, or could be a TWF mode. A general rule of thumb I recommend is to be in DPS mode until things get rough, then go to tank mode.
