We're talking about an arcane sustaining 500 DPS for >8 minutes, and if you are correct this output is inferior(!!) to some other arcane build. Savants are dramatically overpowered if that is the case. No one could disagree, could they?
The problem is that devil raid bosses have evasion on higher difficulties, and still have a decent reflex save on normal as well, which leaves eladar's electric surge (an shocking grasp) as the only non-evadable source of dps an efficient damage.
Even with resistances, spamming no save spells like polar ray and frost lance SLAs, in addition to niacs biting cold is almost always higher dps then spamming ball lightning, lightning bolt, or the horribly slow casting chain lightning.
Now that acid spells stack, earth savants cant do much more efficient damage as well, but might not be quite as much dps.

When you look at non-devil raid bosses as well, some of which are immune to lightning, the other savants have a much larger lead over air.

Yea given the INSANE damage finger of death does after the update, and fact it can kill anything, even epic.

Single target nukes like these, should be ultra powerful. Deserves boosts if anything. Sorcs need some way to compete with the heavy heavy dmg/death palemasters will be handing out every 8 seconds.

AoE is where it's at for trash nuking.

They definitely do not need to be buffed.
Tried not to mention this but you let the cat out. An air savant completely focussed correctly will kick arse on bosses. But I still want to see an electrified AoE spell.

    Here's my prediction...

    NERF!!!

I give it 1 month tops if it even makes it out of Lamania...

Being able to damage one type of Raid Boss over others is not grounds for a Nerf. In order to do massive damage to Pit Fiends air savants have given up being able to damage Lailat, Stormreaver, and The Abbot raid bosses with their chosen spell class. All of which are completely immune to electricity. If Air Savants are to be nerfed for being able to harm Harry, Horoth, and Sully more than other sorcs then other savants should be nerfed for being able to harm Abbot, Stormreaver, and Lailat more than electrical.

A lone Fire Savant should be able to annihilate the Abbot with their fire DOT and DBFs but will be weak versus Velah. Cold is really the strongest class raid wise as their spells can affect all but Abbot.

The game isn't limited to Shroud and Amrath there is other content that balances the various Savant powers out. Just because a savant is good in a couple adventure packs that should not equal nerf.

Take a look at the specific boss encounters here:

DPS on Stormreaver- Doesn't matter ever, except maybe SoS

DPS on the Abbot- Doesn't matter

    DPS on Lailat- Matters

    --

    DPS on Harry- King

    DPS on Sully- King

    DPS on Horoth- King

    --

Cold and Air are seeming pretty equally king raid specs (with Air's notable exception on Lailat).

Earth has the added caster level buff advantage, earthgrab cc, great dot dps. Will also be excellent, though notably a tier below cold and air on raids.

Fire is such ownage in certain quests , especially leveling, that it's going to be obscene. But that comes at the expense of raid boss damage.

I'm planning to do a lot of regular respeccing every three days.

Default Are the new cold / elec DOTs suspectible to SR

Do we need to pass creature SR with these spells to cause the damage. They seem like a fun addition when fighting red named solo and raid bosses but if you have to bypass SR then I dont know. As a rule of thumb damage spells dont need to beat SR right. Lightning strike from dragonmark however does...for whatever reason so...
