    How old are your drivers?

How are you unable to play using those settings? Are you getting incredible lag, or freezes, or full-blown crashes?

What wattage is your power supply, and what temperatures are you running when you try to run with ultra settings on?

Hello, essentially the frame rate becomes very low. I should have been more specific sorry. I have the latest drivers (steam manages this now).

My PC plays all other games on Ultra fine (Bad Company 2, Dawn of War 2). So i really dont think its hardware. Perhaps as the 5970 is a crossfire card ddo has issues?

You might try setting your video card's settings to application-controlled on everything. Sometimes the frame rate can drop if the video card is trying to force certain settings on a game or application.

Another thing to try would be to disable Ansiotropic Filtering. I had a bad framerate problem in a different game, and doing that fixed it. I'm not sure if it will help in this case, but it's worth a shot.

What are your framerates at the various in-game settings? (ultra, high, medium) There are free programs out there that can measure that, such as this one:

Thanks, I will do as you have both suggested. It is odd, normally I play in eyefinity with Bad Company 2, which looks far more graphically intensive than DDO... Lets see how it works out.

    Thanks again!

Hi all, as soon as i disabled dx11 water it came right. No dips in fps now. Thanks! Must need a powerful card to run that... 5970 still one of the top cards.

oh yea the 5970 is still up there as one of the best cards you can buy. Idk if it's still just that dx11 is in it's infantcy and it's just a matter of time before they get better with it (drivers and code). I've played quite a few dx11 games now tho and the only time the real big hurt'n comes is when i turn on the water effects, tho ddo and lotro are by far the worst with it. Also if you watch while you turn it off and on the difference is sooo small that it's barely noticable.
