    Default quickdraw

i saw new feats comming out in u9, and was wondering,
does quick draw improves shuriken throwing speed in ddo?

before someone points to me and calls me an noob:
shurikens are supposed to be count as ammunition when drawing, meaning it should be an free action to get them.
daggers are not counted as ammo, so its an move action to get them.
quickdraw should make this an free action aswell.

    just wondering,

does anyone know if quick draw improved shuriken throwing speed?

i am thinking rolling an shuriken drow monk for the sheer fun of it.
how does the thousend star manyshot work? is it just an finisher, can it be maintained 100% of the time, or is there an cooldown to it?

shuriken expertise + manyshot = 10 hits per shuriken thrown?
combined with brutal throw and max strength... it could be fun.
maybe some improved precise shot and hit multiple each throw? ****

too bad i cant use imbue slaying on an shuriken ;( :P

Unless they change ManyShot, it only works on bows and will not help with thrown weapons or X-Bows.

Likewise, the description on Lamania (which is likely the correct version), says that you have a CHANCE to throw an additional shuriken based on your Dexterity score and it appears to be a 1 to 1 correlation. So a 25 Dex score equals a 25% chance to throw two shurikens instead of one.

When I tried thousand stars several years ago, I could barely tell a difference in throwing speed. QuickDraw + the lvl 6 Wind stance + Thousand stars was about the same as Quickdraw + lvl 6 wind stance. From everything I've read since then, it's never been addressed and is still horrible.

Shuriken is still 1d2 or 1d3 base damage, it is still a 20 threat range and still only a x2 multiplier. On top of that, the double throw mechanic(dex) is at odds with the damage(str).

It's great that they realize Shurikens are in need of help, even though the idea behind them may be accurate (not saying it is), they are just broken when it comes to the on-line implementation.

Another issue that stinks is that Thousand Stars takes 15 Ki and you get no Ki for ranged attacks. You also don't get any real standing Ki regeneration unless you are a stealthed lvl 6 dark monk or a level 20 monk, though there may be some rare gear that will help around the mid to late teen range.

If you are in the middle of combat to generate Ki, then why would you ever throw stars? If you are at the beginning of combat and didn't finish your last combat with enough ki, you either tell your party to wait for you to meditate (yeah..) or you just don't get to use the thousand stars.

All in all, everything about Shurikens and the various class/race enhancements that augment them just do not fit well together in actual play and their end result is to take an under performing ranged option and bring it up to where it is closer to throwing axes and daggers (which by the way still needs help if they are thinking there is any use for them besides pulling). If pulling is the goal for throwing weapons, then everything is fine. If they are deluded into thinking people might be able to make adequate ranged throwing characters, then things are definitely not fine.

One other issue with throwing stars is that they are de-valued at the vendors as well as being laughed at by the majority of players. This means when you go to the auction house and you search for returning shurikens, you'll see anywhere from 3 to maybe 8 for sale and almost all of them are +1 to +3 and a metal type (like silver or flame touched). It is exceedingly rare to find a shuriken that has enchants on it at the auction house. Likewise, because the vendors de-value the shuriken you can't go to any of the pawn shops and find them either. When they are sold they're gone.

So what does it tell you that even the npc vendors in the game think they are trash???

it's to my understanding that melee's get quickdraw so that they can quickly use clickies like titans trip, action boosts, and then go back to attacking faster than if they didn't have quickdraw

its used for switching weapons, and since you normally have to pick up another dagger(at least in D&D), you need quick draw to get that as an free action.
shurikens count as ammo when drawing so should be an free action.

but this is ddo, where everything is just abit different xD.

pretty much, its for action boost procs (halves them from 1.2 to 0.6 seconds) and switching weapon sets (halves that too), basically if you have an extra feat you take it, its just makes playing a bit smoother.

The original use, as I understand it, was to draw throwing weapons faster.
Faster action boosts were a side-effect of the mechanics. Changing weapons might have been part of the original intent, or might have been a side-effect. I'm not sure (though it is in the feat description currently).

I have not seen any reason to suppose that shuriken are different in DDO from other throwing weapons (regardless of how they work in PnP). I have no proof, but would suppose that quickdraw would mean you could throw them faster.
Not for everyone. But if you're looking for a fresh experience with a slower pace and tactical play, come check us out at www.mortalvoyage.us You might just like what you see...

Quick Draw increases attack speed with all thrown weapons. According to the wiki, Ten Thousand Stars provides +50% attack speed w/shurikens for 20 secs (60 sec cooldown). Manyshot, however, applies only to short- & longbows, so that cannot be combined. Rapid Reload is crossbows-only. I believe the rest of the ranged feats affect all ranged & thrown weapons: Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Precise Shot, and Imp Prec Shot.

I'm half-tempted to see if I could come up with a Ninja / Mechanic / AA rgr who swaps between repeaters, shuriken, and longbows depending on what's on cooldown. I'm sure it would be horribly gimp, which is why it fascinates me.

I suppose it is worth a feat for that effect if your clicky heavy (a monk), bit it is still a feat.
