Default Coit, Update 9, and his quest for FVS fun - The Coitwhallup!

So i was getting ready to TR my old ranger who is at the end of his 2nd life into a dual khopesh high DC Favoured Soul having found myself missing having a high DC divine amongst my toons, and just not feeling the love on my old ranger anymore (i went on a melee fvs spree recently and while they're great, sometimes you just can't beat the dc's for solo farming, some quests - i'm looking at you Sleeping Dust - just need them)

Then update 9 comes along and takes a big old power d**p on everything i hold sacred in melee casting (yes, i'm talking about 30 second blade barriers ).

After a good review of the gear/tomes/etc on my old ranger, and some careful scrutiny of the new FVS PRE and adjusted affects and costs of different spells and enhancements under the new regime, i believe i have come up with something that will give me what i want in melee, in dc, and in exploration of what the new pre can do, while qualifying for the free heal and DR capstone we all know and love so much.

I've still taken Extend, as i'm a addicted to good buffs, and my melee buffs are my friend on a setup like this, i don't want to have keep renewing them constantly when i'm bouncing through an elite sins, or keeping some clown alive in VOD that's just run out of resists.

You may notice that empower is missing in the below setup, but if you look at the new PRE i'm only taking a little knock in offensive power without it once i'm a Tier 2 Angel of Vengeance, I know my healing with just maximise will be up to any situation from experience, and i feel that Heighten will be much more advantageous with the low spell cost debuff's and damage spells i'm putting on my modified spell list to really work the new PRE to it's strengths.

The gear setup may seem a little different, but this is my oldest character, and has all sorts of weird and wonderful greensteel not really crafted with any specific setup in mind, most of which i've managed to incorporate into the build without hurting it, and taking advantage of some of the nice affects i originally built the gear for.

So without further ado, here is my take on update 9 as a melee/dc/healing/solo-ing kickcoit FVS that i'll be rolling out on the 20th of April (i have a 5 day break from work starting on the 21st xD) and levelling through as a third life toon for what will undoubtably be some time after that xD.

Looks great. It's very very very similar to what I did with my latest FVS.

I'll be spinning her through as a Half Elf next though; right now she's human and using a feat on Weapon Prof (as you are). The additional feat was handy, but I'm not sure I've seen much problem with her offensive casting. I actually only put "remaining" points into WIS - she's a STR build. She can hit the runes in VON5, but that's about it. Her spells land well enough on non-evasion mobs and for the others, greataxe time!

Half-elf, FWIW, on the next life is for the dilettante fighter and all martial proficiencies. Greataxe is cool (and I've got some crafted) but others would also be handy.

I went with damage spells only ... no greater command, etc. Flamestrike instead (and the new DoT spell in that slot on after update 9). I also went Silver Flame for the zap zap. I've never needed the healing capstone.
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane
