It's interesting to see the comments about extend being necessary for casters because otherwise they would run out. So I figured how much sp it would cost to keep short term buffs up both with and without haste, assuming 15 minutes between shrines:

    Without extend:
    Rage 4 minutes, 10sp*4 = 40
    Haste 2 minutes, 20sp*8 = 160
    Displacement 2 minutes, 20sp*8*6 = 960

    With extend:
    Rage 8 minutes, 20sp*2 = 40
    Haste 4 minutes, 30sp*4 = 120
    Displacement 4 minutes, 30sp*4*6 = 720

So that means that the sp cost difference keeping rage/haste up with and without haste is about 40sp, of course displacement makes a bigger difference of 240sp difference. So if you plan on just being a buffbot, than there is no reason not to take extend. If you want to be a active Arcane it's more a factor of the annoyance of having to refresh buffs more often vs. losing a valuable feat slot, since SP wise you are better off taking mental toughness.

I support increased durations and removal of the extend feat altogether

From where I am stood, looking at the spells you can extend if you don't take it you are not a team player and you are not welcome, same as someone who won't turn PA off if thier DPS is too high and pulling threat, or someone who spams boosts as soon as they get on a boss instead of spamming them near the end when agro is established and we get done in the same amount of time.

Oh and by the way (referring to your sig), we aren't nerfing the Torc.

Displace - you don't have it half way thought the fight anyway after it wears off. Get some AC or DR or blur/dusk item and cure serious pots.

Don't DEPEND on others and then complain if they don't have what you want.
I disagree. And also I disagree to Junts & others making clickies comment

Using pots/clickies means less dps. Melee stops hitting stuff, drinks a (guild) pot, then hits stuff again? Slower and therefore more of a drain on healers and others in the party. We're talking end game content here so epics and stuff. Stop and drink a pot in epic Chrono? Please don't. Please keep smashing that Abashai down as fast as you can thanks. *Team*play as others have said.

I can totally understand sorcs dropping extend and I think you're being unreasonable Shade not to expect this. The *good* sorcs as you know will want haste on themselves too and will keep an eye on their haste/displ/rage timers and others.

Wizzes I am curious about... While I am happy to play a buff bot/holder I have to do something as my mass holds are only landing 1/5 of the time now on Lam (just Fens testing so far). I will keep extend but others less inclined to the buffbot role I imagine will not. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

My bards are happy to be the heal/haste bot. But I can totally understand another bard's irritation if they don't wish to be pidgeon-holed this way.

Norg's original suggestion of making these buff spells of longer duration I like - can't see it happening though :/ But this whole change really has put this issue firmly on the table.

    hi there, arcane here

i will not be carrying extend anymore...sorry all you dps types, feats are gold on casters...especially sorcs since spell focus evocation is required for a savant...

i can understand the concern from an lfm point of view for a pug player...

good arcanes will keep haste/rage rolling without being asked...ever

i think this boils down to "know who you are running with"

if you have a problem with a 2 minute haste getting refreshed at or very close to every 2 minutes, then you are telling me how to build my toon...sorry, doesn't work that way

Yep , this will work as long as you are more important to the raid than the arcane . ( ie your the devine ) dps is so common that you really have very little umph .

THat being said I am keeping my extend . haste and displacement are both spells I use a lot when soloing
