    Default save please...

Recently I had a few negative experiences with saving spots on sarlona groups at a rate I havnt really had on other servers.

Out of 8 saved places requested over the last 24hrs, I have been replaced in all of them. In some cases it was 15min (evon6) and in some it was 30 seconds (CC).

I have no problem with being told that the leader will not save spots. I have an issue with people saying they will, only to not really give a ****.

Here are some general rules that I believe should be accepted in relation to saving spots.

    - Dont ask for a save if you wont join
    - State the time you will take, and dont exceed it. If you do, it is reasonable for the leader to replace.
    - Both players should agree on the terms of the save immediatly.
    - Leaders should hold saved spots for players that they have promised regardless of situations that follow (ie another character hits lfm)

I dont care if everyone just says they wont save spots any more, I just dont want to rush to leave a group, only to find out that I dont even get in to the quest.

    Cheers,

    bel

p.s. tarny, I still dont forgive you.

Saving spots usually ends up just causing drama. Unless you know the group and/or group leader well, saving spots for more than ~2 minutes just seems like a bad idea. Either you finish whatever you were previously doing in time to join normally (in which case you didn't really need to save a spot), or you're forcing the group to wait for you. Sure, they should probably tell you your spot isn't "held" any more, but I'd probably only see something like that happening if the leader actually knows you or they're more courteous than the average player.

There may be situations where you'll tell the group leader something like "hey, I have {needed class} that can go in X minutes" or whatever, but even then, it's typically more of an "I'll go if you haven't found one yet by then". Sometimes they'll wait, but if you don't know the leader and they don't know you, why would you really expect them to wait? Either you get the spot, someone they know shows up and gets the spot instead of random PUG who isn't ready yet, or another person they also don't know shows up but who is ready now gets it. Even if the group does know you, it's fairly rude to make 5-11 friends sit around waiting on just you if it's going to be more than a couple of minutes.

Honestly I'm with vyvy on this only I don't hold spots for these reasons. If theres something more important at that moment then do it, don't rush yourself to join something that 90% of the time wont be there when you finish.

    1. Also, please state your CLASS LEVEL - or class distribution if it so applies.
    2. And if you are switching to a different character, provide the NAME.

Common sense people! Odds are that if the leader doesn’t know you, the applicant, then the only thing that becomes truly relevant is what your class or role is to be. It’s the most basic and obvious piece of information that far too many people neglect when they shoot an empty /tell - "save spot pls" (Oh and >please< learn how to spell; this is an off tangent matter so let's not delve further in people's spelling abilities on this particular thread).

Personally, I'm not big on saves.

I might send a tell out saying, if you haven't filled when I'm done with what I'm doing then I'll come fill x spot (normally heal or trapsmith). That's mainly so the leader knows that spot will be taken care of if they don't get the required hit. Otherwise, if I'm in something when the lfm goes up, my focus should be on whatever I'm piking while I check the lfm panel, etc.

I think if you're setting up a raid in chat, etc, just don't put up the lfm or post it as private. If you're asking for a save and 11 other people are ready, don't be mad if your saved spot gets taken.

Roll a bard. I once got a 11 folks to wait on me for 15 minutes while I finish a CC run.

I don't bother asking for spots to be saved for me if I ever try to pug. I just hope that I can switch toons/finish what I'm doing before the LFM goes away.

If I'm not ready to go RIGHT NOW then I don't need the spot that badly, and I'd hate for people to wait on me. Often times, I don't hit an LFM until I am actually near enough to the quest to zone in within 15 seconds. I've missed out on spots because of this.

i ask for a spot if i'm on the wrong toon to fill what they are asking but thats no more time than to switch chars and usually, only if it's the last 2-3 spots.

I concur. There is no digital version of "savesies"

But I suspect what some people do is join a pug and then report that they need to switch because the current toon is on timer - thereby assuring that they have a spot for the toon they really want to bring.

Meh saves whatever, sometimes I save a spot when someone asks, other times I tell them to hit the lfm when they are ready and if i have a spot....

What I hate is when someone sends a tell asking me to save a spot, and logs off before I can reply.

I cant tell you how many times im looking for a healer one hits the lfm, and before I can accept/change the lfm someone shoots me a tell and logs. Then when they log in they send a bitter tell about how they sent me a tell asking me to save the spot lmao.

On the Flipside, there is a lot of information coming into the person leading a Raid. . .sometimes a ton of tells with guild chats and user chats--and then add the people who are alting thru every toon they have for some reason--and its pretty easy to accidently fill a spot--esp if you are like me and dont like to sit around and just take anyone who hits the LFM.

So, to save myself headaches, many times even to my own guild I say " TOD--First Comers" Which means Im not going to wait 10 mins while you make your pasta sauce or whatever.

I also put "Must be ready to go now" in many of my Raid LFMS.

If you are swapping to another character, sure, gimme name. If you forget to give me a name, you better hurry lol. Otherwise FCFS unless you are collapsing with another raid.
