    Default intimidation paladin

can someone give me some advice on making an intimidation paladin? or a link? my barbarian is (slowly) approaching 20 and i was thinking about TRing him into a paladin (to get the benefit of the extra points). i realize that tank characters are equipment-heavy so i'm trying to collect and craft stuff as we speak...thoughts?

    Intim Pally..... WHA?!

For gosh's sake why? what are to trying to build, a crate smasher? Piker-build?

No no no no.... if you want a toon that will put the fear into something... try any other class.

If you want to bore the creatures to death and kill them in your unwashed "aura".. ugh

    I see you hate pallies.
They do not suck. A bit lower on DPS than other melee classes, but they are better on evil outsiders (DoS PrE sucks nobody uses it really...) The saves are a huge bonus, while your better dps classes will have pitiful saves (except fortitude...) They have self heals.

Yep Junts has great pallies, I have a pally build that has basically the same dps as an offense focused pally, but also has AC and intim. For me it's a pally TR, for you it'll be a barbarian TR, not really any difference since I don't take the active past life feat.

Notes: You can take jump or anything really instead of spot if you don't care about seeing sneaky enemies. The last feat can be Skill Focus: Intimidate, an extra Toughness, or Oversized Two Weapon Fighting. You can take of Exalted Smite III or Paladin Toughness III for the last 3 tiers of Improved Intimidate. AC can be in the 70's but will sit in the 60's. Intim can easily be in the 50's, reaching the 60's and possibly 70's if you drink pots and are intimidate focused for enhancements and feats. [EDIT: HP gets over 500, probably won't reliably tank Horoth but otherwise solid for tanking.] The name is my real toon's name. If no TR, drop Wis by 2 or int by 2, skipping CE. If 2 or more TRs, take more Wis or drop Wis or Int by 2 and bump Str. The tomes listed are only the ones needed for prereq's, of course I would use more for the actual toon though. As you said (OP), gear will greatly benefit this character.

    I disagree.

Easily the worst Class in the game is Paladin. (Curse their Class).

Those Uppity button smashers are always preaching how good they are, when in fact, the only things afraid of pallys in DDO is a the occasional CRATE. (RUMOR): DDO is putting is Evil outsider Crates in the game so pallys can feel they contribute.

    Go figure.

Yes your touchy-feel Paladin is probably piking his way along the sides of a quest hunting for unmovable objects to break. If you get too close you'll notice a few things right off...

    1. They might try to lay their hands on you, (PERV!!) and...

    2. The scent of their "aura" will assault you... PHEW!!! Go get a BATH, Stinking Pally!! (why oh why these fanatics seem to cast this palpable "aura of doom" around them like a shield of dread... I guess they hope the homeowners of the crates they smash might just turn around and attack someone "Cleaner")

Ding!! with a flash of 2 men hands holding over the pallys head, the pally wants to make clear his intentions: putting the moves on more mobs (convert or romance? UGH!), No wonder the mobs run away to other more worthy opponents.

I ain't here to discuss a paladins choices in Life Partners, But I say Its just not for Me.
Hate the sin and not the sinner we say in the Anti Paladin League. The good Lord of DDO saw what tragedy was perpetrated against players who choose poorly at character creation, So he provided us with many Hearts of Wood, That which is strong, bends without break, rights the wrongs... A pally CAN be forgiven, allowing to destroy the tainted carcass of his past bad choice and start anew, As any class at all... bar paladin.

Help those destitute Pallys find a heart of wood.. They need it.

Wow. Very biased. Ranger is probably the worst class, even though they're decently cool. Pallies are NOT the worst, if there is such a thing. The OP wanted a Paladin, my favorite (shared favorite with monk) class. So I gave him a pally.

Where's your "proof" that pallies suck? They can hold aggro on evil outsiders, really anything if they have divine righteousness. LoH is not rape, it is a very good heal. They can have AC, DPS, way better saves than fighters and barbarians... They are great at carrying the soul stones of the rest of their party to the shrine when the party (except the pally) wipes.

If a Paladins Worth is measured by his faith in its deity, and the "best" pallys have minimum stat of their wisdom, then a party of pallys would be a pack of Glenn Becks.....
