I fear half-elves.
I adore them on paper. On paper "ohai, lets splash the coolest part of any class you want instead of a basic feat, get the useful human enhancements, AND a subset of some of the better elf abilities" is AMAZING. "want low level spells? BAM! Wanna get free DR an toughness x infinity+1?? WHAPPOW! Feel like adding your cha to saves? WATUSI!"
Ingame though? When I think of "uncanny valley", THAT'S THE MOST MONSTROUS DEFINITION OF HALF ELVES!

Yeah, there's something off with the facial proportions. I think the eyes are a tad too far apart and the forehead too large.

It's always easy to tell which ones are the helves in the raid group... they're the ones with the /showhelmet on.

Yeah, there's something off with the facial proportions. I think the eyes are a tad too far apart and the forehead too large.

it's not just that. Eyes are to far apart, there's no lines around the eyes to deliniate them from the rest of the face, the nose is overlarge(a normal elf/drow can pull it off, with a narrower face and more pointed chin, but on a round face, a nose that's proportionally a full 1/3 of the face will stretch the face out way to much) there are NO cheekbones on them, and SOMEHOW, the laugh lines on the half elves are less than what are on both humans and elves.
So..basically, disproportionate, moon-faced uncanny valley mutants.

Their lips are tiny and scrunched together and seem painted on to their face... even more than lips usually are.

It's like they tried to take a human male head, give it a female elf face, and male elf proportions. For the male helves, at least. Not sure about the female ones, I don't play female characters usually.

I wish we could make half-elves look that good.

On that note, don't get me started on the horrible painted-on "stubble" that half elves can get.

His son Gilthas however, turned out, um, kind of how half-elves are in DDO, to say it nice.
